Yup. Saw that. All the excitable bunnies were saying "80 HP! Wheee!"

Sorry, 2V, pushrod, even with a hot cam, (Which it doesn't have.) I have been saying all along it would struggle to make mid sixties.

Then we have the argument about how "All manufacturers quote figures at the crank", as if this has any fucking relevance at all! What matters is what goes through the tyre contact patch and more importantly what the torque curve is like, regardless of outright power.

I've ridden a V85 and the best thing I can say is it's better than I thought it would be.

It will probably be their best selling model in years.

I think it's a disappointing turd.

YOMV.

I suppose it depends on how you like to ride.
Up to 7000 revs it makes same torque and power as a Street Triple R:

Kind of reinforces that it would be my type of bike, I'm done with frantic reving between 8000 and 12000 revs. Enough power, more economical and simpler to maintain. Its the future for some of us. And electric power.

Pretty much the same as the Ducati's raciest Scrambler too:

Surprises me that the Desmodronic Ducati has similar power/torque to the V85, I expect the servicing costs more and the longevity is less.

I finally saw this in the flesh at the yearly Dutch motorcycle expo, and remain unconvinced. I think its telling that no one I was with went like ‘oh wow, nice bike’.
Its just another rather bland looking adventure touring bike, and will have to compete with the likes of both the ugly but very popular BMW GS bikes and the popular and (imho) much more attractive Triumph Tiger bikes.
