Valve clearance

I note that Beetle maps run best with specified valve clearance of 1mm & 1.5 mm (4thou & 6thou). My question is are these the standard settings a MG mechanic would use on a rollerised GRiSO? Or do we have to specify them when getting the bike serviced?

Various gaps have been specified over the years and most people don't think about what they are trying to achieve with them or why and how they change. The general, if it is thought about at all, choice is the widest settings quoted. This is based on the assumption that they will close up with heat. In fact the opposite is true.

The 8V is very sensitive to valve clearance changes. All the Beetlemaps are built for 4&6 sure they will run at 6$8 but sub-optimally.

Just to confound things, the 4 and 6 thou are for GRiSO but the Norge is still 6 and 8 thou?

Mine runs fine at stock settings with Mark's map.

Since 2015 Guzzi specifies 0.15 and 0.2 for flatties and rollers whereas 0.1 and 0.15 which I use for beetle maps didn't hurt so far.
