- Some 20 odd thou kilometres ago Pete Roper did the rollerisation job (C Kit) on my 2009 GRiSO 8v, which had undeniable damage to the tappets and discolouration on the cam lobes and (knock on wood) she has been running totally beautifully since. Don't hesitate - get it done!
Apart from the cold start issue which we'll address in early September. Mark's been busy with family shit but I'll word him up on it. Pete

| BTW here are some pics of my baby, all cleaned up and with the new fly windscreen I ordered. Turning those pipes from rusty brown to shiny was a lot of work! But well worth it [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Here's a nice tutorial for swapping out the plug boots: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Ignore the parts about cable re-routing (unnecessary on the GRiSO) and the bit about the plug nipple as that is only required when using the SB05F caps. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]2012 MOTO GUZZI GRiSO 1200SE2013 MOTO GUZZI STELVIO 1200NTX - Orange Blossom Special | |

| Thanks for that link. I’ve found the light comes on and sometimes it stumbles when the engine is hot. It always happens when it’s hot outside and I am idling or moving very slowly in traffic. Once I start moving again the light goes off and it runs smoothly. Could that be the spark plug boot issue I wonder? Don’t see why it would be temperature-dependent, but who knows what weird physics is going on there. | |

| I see you're Canadian - I spent a very pleasant 14 months in New Brunswick in the early eighties and have fond memories of Canada and Canadians. Re special tools etc, I suggest you look at the 13 odd minute video of the process that Pete Roper has posted. Pete and his offsider did it for me. I think there was some tweaking of ECU to be done.Pete and his mate have developed mapping that is superior to factory standard. I have it on my 2009 rollerised GRiSO and she goes like the clappers with good fuel economy. Worth considering.

Sorry I didn't reply to this earlier. I am indeed Canadian, but have been living in California for 20 years now and am a U.S. citizen, so I guess you could say Canadian/American at this point. I grew up in Toronto but spent a number of years living in beautiful Victoria, BC. I did a motorcycle trip to the east coast including New Brunswick back in the 1980s and it was pretty cool. I did look at that video from Pete, and it was very helpful. By now I've seen lots of pictures and videos and feel pretty confident about doing the job. At first I was concerned about having to pull the head and remove the valve spring to add the shim ("C" kit) because I've never removed valve springs before, but with the right tool it looks totally straightforward so I'm not worried. It's so great to be able to pull up YouTube videos of any procedure! In the old days we'd have to figure out things the hard way (usually by breaking stuff). I'm really interested in the ECU maps that Pete has come up with. I saw a "Beetle Maps" site where you can buy a map for a rollerized GRiSO for $100, but I'm wondering what other options there are. I'm totally into getting set up to load new ECU maps and do all that cool stuff for myself. This bike is a good hobby

| Map development is purely Mark's (Beetle's) domain. I just wallop things with hammers!

| Map development: Me: (enters nerd mode) "With this map I've blah, blah, blah, gobbledygook, gobbledygook." Pete: (Eyes glaze over and starts gurning). Rides bike with new map. "Map good". | Don't knock the goat leggings, though you will want to use them before someone else, who is likely to leave them (ahem) moist! | |

| What are these goat leggings about? Is this something to do with a Guzzi engine that “runs like a theee-legged goat with a broom up its chuff?” | |

| No, but it is wise to find a source for the 'Ointment' before the ceremony.... | |
