Replacing Decals Empty
PostSubject: Replacing Decals   Replacing Decals Icon_minitime1Thu Jul 27, 2017 7:33 am

I know this is not a tuning or mechanical issue but just wondering if anyone can advise best practice for this ....

The main decal on my tank had a bit of damage and had lifted off at the letter G, the silver foil lettering was damaged so no chance of sticking it back down. I ordered a new Decal as it spoils the look. It has now arrived. It's the GRiSO 8V Decal in silver and red.... I can leave the existing O and 8V lettering but the part word GRIS need to be lifted off and replaced.

Just wondered if there is a particular method for doing this to get best results.

Cheers,

Angus.

Hi Sid,

Not sure, I would have assumed that but as I said part of the lettering was up from the tank and damaged.

Maybe I should take it to a body shop and get their opinion ... the Decal was £45.00 so i'd prefer not to make an arse of it haha. Smile

The Halfords professional lacquer (not the ordinary one) gets good reviews. It's a spray on job, so just mask off areas you don't want it near (ie, most of the tank, unless it's gloss paint).

Where did you buy the decals?

Hi Papa, thanks I will check into that.

Seem to stock loads of GRiSO bits and have great exploded views with full parts lists for the bikes.

Cheers,

Angus,

In my case its the only decal that's not lacquered over, its just a sticker on top as the S came loose for me.

My 09 did that, and since it's cleared coated over it you can't just pull the sticker out and forget about it.
In my case, I ended up changing the color of the bike. lol
If you manage to get the rest of it out without peeling the clearcoat, you might be OK by just applying the new oney
