high idle 2007 GRiSO 1100

does anyone have pictures of where you install fuel tap in hose on left side throttle body . jeremyb had a post about this fast idle.

Are you sure it's tuned correctly and the TB's are clean?

I don't have any photos of the install, but it wouldn't really show anything anyway - just a fuel tap right behind the LH throttle body. I'd have to remove the tank to show it properly, and that's not a fun job.

It was a few years ago, but I had the tank off for another reason. I identified the hose from the Stepper (in the engine 'V'), cut it, re-routed the hose under and behind the LH throttle body (for convenience) and inserted the tap.

I leave it open, unless I get a high idle - usually when the engine gets extremely hot. Slightly more engine braking when closed, which makes for less smooth throttle control.

I fitted it recently and posted a pic - see below, the 'answer' is to remove the side fairing, remove existing hose from the airbox connection and pull it under the Throttle bodies; push in the fuel tap and then fit a new piece of 8mm tube from tap back to air hose in a way that doesn't kink it (by looping it around fairing fixtures) ....then figure out routing without touching throttle linkage anywhere, cut it to length, fit back into air box  & use black cable ties to secure it.....

...if you twiddle the valve under normal conditions it just upsets idle so it is only useful to drop idle when high idle is a persistent problem and you need something fast to fix it....long term need to clean the valve.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Yup!

Yep, it needs a much better workaround than attempt to treat the symptoms rather than the underlying problem.......but it only cost less than £10 to have a variable idle mixture knob that I never use
