| Before you can aspire to Figdom you need to do the thing with the horseradish and the goldfish. I'd advise against it. It's tawdry and tends to cause problems when you present at the hospital. | |

| New battery came in and it's still doing it, so now I'll check the starter relay, then start looking for shorts. Off to get some test leads, anyone know the pinout of the L5A relay? | |

I talked to Costarica´s dealer Moto DESMO. They fixed the problem for me as I stated before. They told me, my bike was blowing off the 30 A fuse due to a loose ground (tierra in spanish) cable that connected to the starter. Im sorry its not first hand information. I dont do my mechanical work. Hope it helps.

| Fixed! New relays arrived last night and finally got a chance to install. The bike runs! Woo hoo. Thanks to everyone for the tips and pointers and relieved that I don't have to chase down a short somewhere. | |

| Spoke too soon. Went for two rides and all was well. Just left for work and rode over a cattle guard and popped the fuse again. Now the fuse blows as soon as I turn the key on, not when cranking so I'm back to chasing a short.
I have 3 cattle guards to ride over leaving my place so had ridden over the same cattle guards 12 times on the last two rides and now all of a sudden the fuse blows.
I'll start checking from the fuse back so I guess that means following the main wiring harness and carefully cutting the wrap from the wiring harness to inspect the wire I'm chasing? or is there a better way to check for shorts? | |

| Before you cut the insulation in the loom, look in the most likely places where the loom might rub, like where it might be tied to the frame, etc. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! . | |

| Found it! Wire bundle running to tail lights was jammed between the fender and the rear subframe right where there's a bolt. Relieved to finally find it and should have looked here sooner as per one other poster. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Onya Bros, doesn't it feel good when you finally find 'the' problem which can be so easily and cheaply corrected. Caoi | |

| Yep thanks again everyone, I just hadn't chased this specifically because of the intermittent nature, why it ran fine for 2 rides, after replacing the relay??? plus a bit of laziness. I have Hepco Becker Juniors mounted and it meant removing the entire rack system to get into the tail piece. | |

| I had a similar problem where the dash would sweep, go to start and *click* nothing. It only happens when I'm 6+ hours away from my garage though... It has happened 3 times: blew the 30 amp fuse the first time (luckily in my driveway so was not a huge fuss) Next at the toll booth on skyline drive Next on lake Eire ^Bike had run flawlessly for the majority of the day before this^ For some reason, the only remedy I have found is sanding or scraping the positive terminal lead down and re-connecting it.
Should I take a look for loose wires too? thoughts?
