Mods: - Rexxer "User" with 2 special maps (street legal or racetrack, both modified for A8 engine + BOS 2-1 Black Magic silencer + open airbox with BMC filter). The Rexxer system is a pure software solution (you just need a device called "User" to transfer modified maps). The maps were engineered by DÄS Motoec especially for my setup. The BOS silencer has a similar sound as the orignal one (deep!) and fits perfectly to the bike (high build quality). - The whole "Kellermann stuff" (licence plate holder, LED turn signals) were also bought from DÄS Mototec. His verison of the LED turn signals do not glow, when ignition is switched of. - Rossopuro oil cooler cover - Black Moto Guzzi decals

Thx Steak!
Who created this image? Somebody from the Italian forum? Does somebody have a vector graphic file? ;-)

Yeah, I copped that from the Italian mother forum. Those cats have style!
You'd have to inquire over there as to the existence of a vectored image. Although you could probably render one from the jpg file, you'd just want to clean it up afterwards.

Has your bike been rollerised yet? Be a shame to have it go tits with all the time and money you've poured into it.

Hi Pete, caused by lack of time for my hobby, I only rode the GRiSO approx. 4500 km since 2011. By investigating all Guzzi forums I know, I have learned know that roller tappets are a must. My idea is to do this the coming winter, unfortunately I miss one (yearly) service, so I guess I have to pay for all by myself.

P.S. I love my A8 engine - the best engine MG has built so far and it still has this classic look.

While not being able to second guess the factory's attitude, (The term 'Random' doesn't even come close!) at least here I'm not having bikes knocked back on time any more.
As long as they have a mileage/Km record of service they are getting the 'Thumbs Up'.
I always recommend at least trying!

I had a interesting talk with Roland Däs (http://www.daes-mototec.de) - THE specialist for Guzzi in Germany about this topic. He made several tests on his own. He sees the problem in the oil conduit towards the tappets. He also explained where the 8V should have more drillings to transport the oil upwards. If I remember it correctly, one should go through the camshaft ... if this would have been made, roller tappets are not necessary.

I disagree but I'm over arguing about it. At the end of the day they're all going to die. Rollerisation is the only cure.

Hi Wayne, you should get them at every Guzzi dealer. I think they were the standard badges on the Breva 750.

Blah, blah blah...they're blowing smoke up your ass!! The flat tappets WILL FAIL!! It took 36K miles on my 09 but it shat the bed anyway. A good dealer will find a way to get you a C kit from Piaggio, you only pay for the labor or you can do it yourself. Don't give up on this, it's worthy. Oh and welcome to the crazies!

I think "Blah blah blah" is a bit unfair here. Roland Däs made those tests when he did get not an answer from Piaggio on what was going on. The solution with the rollers came much later.
Maybe he is right, more oil transport towards the tappets could have solved this too ... who knows.

Nope. It wasn't an oiling issue, sorry. The factory made several changes to ensure there was adequate oiling to the tappets, none of them worked. You can also see the pattern of failure of both cam and tappets suggests another far more likely cause.

Hi Pete, I must admit it was at least 2 years ago when I talked to him on the phone and asked those questions. So these thoughts and ideas are outdated ;-)

Okay ... wrong ;-) Would it make sense to make a preventive change to rollers? My GRiSO is from 2011 (A8 motor) and it just has 6000 Km on the speedo. Who knows if the kits will be availble in several years ....
