| Arghh!!! This morning found a small oil stain on the floor. How likely is to be the carter gasket? I it dangerous to use the bike as long as I check the oil level? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Oil is like blood. A little bit goes a long way. Are you sure it's the gasket leaking? Oil level dropped?
I'd clean it off and check the torque on the sump screws. Keep a close eye on the oil level and whether it continues to ooze. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! .

| Rear main seal, bearing flange or possibly Welch plug at back of cam bearing. It looks like it's coming from the bell housing.

| Cleaned everything thoroughly and put a cotton band to help me locate the point of leak. Mark, I greek gods are against me, they won't let me finish the map with you. But we are going to make it against all odds [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| An update after a few days of use and two hard log runs: All I did was to tighten up a bit the sump screws, the leak seems to have stopped. I can remove the "garter" now | |

| You won't know until it's apart. The usual leak points on a 2V are...
1.) The rear main bearing flange, usually from the two lowest bolts but sometimes the gasket.
2.) The Welch plug at the back of the cam tunnel.
3.) The rear main seal.

| Pete, is it possible that the presence of oil is causing some sort of clutch slipping?
I'll make myself clear: almost everytime I open throttle from fully closed I feel a slight kick and a "clack" sound coming from the bell area. It happens mostly at low speeds, traffic conditions etc. but it's different than the classic surging effect.
It started one day just like that (before I was aware of the leak) and it won't go away.

| Very possible. What sort of oil is it though? Engine or gearbox?

| It's not smelly so I guess it's engine oil | |
