| Well one thing led to another which gave me an idea. If GuzziDiag has been ported to Linux, if it could loaded onto a Raspberry Pi, with a touch screen (fellow guzzi rider is messing with them now - but his motivation is ham radio; and just fun with electrons); well then; you could mount the Raspberry up near the dash and have it read out things like engine oil temp. In real time. While you're using the bike!
Anybody already do this?

| Why bother? ScanM5x already does that stuff on an Android device. Plus other stuff like a gear indicator.
The only advantage would be the ability to change maps. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! .

True. But by the time you add the touchscreen and case, the cost is the same (or more) than a cheap Android phone. And probably bulkier. If you want to use it as a cheap diagnostic and map loader fine, but for a dashboard display, GD leaves a lot to be desired. RPi with GD: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Android device running ScanM5x: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Which one is cleaner and more intuitive to read while riding? While it would be fun to build such a RPi, I ain't gonna be using one as a dash. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! .

| I'm actually looking in Linux... tired of this Microsoft updates every other day, due to vulnerability to viruses mostly.

Pete Exactly. While incompetent in IT and wrenching, at least I get some infantile comfort from mucking around in the latter. Bill

| It ain't rocket science.
1. Plug 3-pin-to-16-pin adapter (the one you use with GuzziDiag) into the ECU port. Attach Bluetooth dongle.
2. Install ScanM5x onto Android device. Configure.
3. Ride!
OK. You'll need an ELM327 Bluetooth dongle. They're cheap. Try Amazon or eBay.

| Thanks! I was going to ask about the ELM327, there seems to be good choices and bad.
I'm looking for a good phone to get. Leaning towards the Moto G as it's water resistant.

| Just don't do what I did. I'm using my old Galaxy Nexus, but I thought I'd buy an smaller sized el-cheapo phone. The wee Sony Xperia I bought is too wee. | Go get a cheap 7" Android tablet with/without phone capabilities - easy to see and not too large either. | |

| I respectfully disagree. Pics of the Nexus in the Givi, and in a Ram phone case. As you can see, the display is big and easy to read. No more 'difficult' than the bike instruments, IMNSHO.
