| In Tokyo the cherry blossoms of the city have passed their prime, but one hour ride from the city allows you to enjoy the full blossoms of the wild cherry trees in the village of the mountain. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| Very nice! Last weekend was "peak blossom" time for them in D.C. too. The ones around the Tidal Basin (where the Jefferson Memorial sits) were a gift from Tokyo in 1912, and many more were brought over and planted all around D.C. around that time. The Cherry Blossom Festival is a huge tourist draw every Spring. I ran the "Cherry Blossom 10-miler" last Sunday, which takes place around the Basin and it was the first time I saw them in all their glory. Worth seeing if you get the chance. An interesting side-note is that cuttings / descendants of the original trees were sent back to Japan to help "retain the genetic lineage". So what goes around, comes around!

| Great pic , it always amazes me when certain trees come into blossom at the same time wherever they are . | |

| Nice picture. Every year we do a ride out in Belgium through the blossoms of the fruit trees. For me it's the most beautiful ride of the year.
I was wondering, which tail bag have you there? | |

| Hi all, thanks for your responses. tocino, actually those sent and planted in the DC. are called Someiyoshino and all clone of the same tree, so they come into blossoms at the same time wherever they are. They dont naturally produce themselves, so we have to maintain the lineage through grafting. bluethunder, the bag is called a Lazyrider cycle bag made in Texas.
