| Bad news, Ron (Waterbottle) went over the high side at Lakeside yesterday.
9 broken ribs and a punctured lung. He's in good spirits, but it will be in hospital for at least another 4 days.
He's been online a few times chatting with me, so he may well be along here later.

| Best wishes, thoughts, prayers, and several lifted glasses to you, Ron, from the top of Virginia. Kathi will participate in all of those, but I am especially good in the "lifted glasses" bit. Bill (& Kathi) | |

| It’ll be a mess. If he’s high sided the bike has almost certainly tumbled, that’s never good. | |

| He's in RBWH - Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital. I only managed 12 breaks on 8 ribs, a collapsed lung and dislocated/broken collar bone. You win Ron.
He be sore for awhile. Make drugs your friend.
Leak from the oil cooler - on rear tyre.

| Oof! Just the image of a high-side hurts let alone having one. Wishing you a fast recovery. While drugs help now, get off them ASAP. They do things to people. | |

| Thank you all for your kind wishes. It happened during the first session of the practice day, a bit annoying as I only got about 5 laps in for the 3 days of planned fun. I would strongly advise everyone to not do this as hospital food is not the best. I have a catheter in my side to drain the lung cavity, a local anesthetic needle in my back for a nerve blocker, this gets rid of the rib pain. One in my right hand with a few double adapters, all for pain killers, one of which is a product called Kettermine, this used as a twilight anesthetiser produces a Hallucinagenic effect. A very vivid display of dots rods and shapes in a rush , a little like the space movies when they go to warp very unpleasant until you realise your not dying. They should tell you about it first. The GRiSO R, I’m told doesn’t look too bad. I’ll get it sorted [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Bad news, good news.
Holy crap Ron!!!
best news is that your 'off' was on the race track, where there are far less things to encounter during the deceleration process.
Not the kind of R&R anybody needs. I see if I can smuggle something edible in!!
Ghezzi said oil leak.... see, they make you put a drip catcher on, and he turns into a triumph...

| Ouch, Ron. You seem to manage to do everything spectacularly well. I trust this applies to the healing process as well.
Had a mate do something similar in front of me - high side from a rear tyre blowout & rolling down the road. He couldn't manage the standard toilet, so the hospital built a throne above the toilet for him. Looked good - his nibs draped in all concealing robes, with half a dozen supplicants in bike leathers seated on the floor observing the process. Are you taking visitors? BTW his bike was only mildly scratched in the process, but it was a couple of months before he was back riding. At the time though, he responded well to humour - you'll have to re-read the jokes thread.

| Hi Mal, yes visitors are welcome. Ward 9 A south , Royal Brisbane hospital. Pat - Triumph I suspect the oil has come from around the cooler area. I flexed the hoses to get it out of the way , being 9 years old one may have cracked under the stainless braid. | |
