See the 'Why can't they leave it the fuck alone?' Thread. But then add in an even more bizarre twist of not touching the 'Sacred Screw' on the LH throttle body but instead playing with the virtually inaccessible one on the RH throttle body. An act so bizarre, lacking in logical thought or even the remotest understanding of how the system works as to make it almost an act of mechanical sociopathy!
Long story short, the 1200 Sport that was giving both myself and Mark stomach ulcers and has used up literally tens of hours of diagnostic time, (Albeit coupled with at least one other problem.) turns out to be a 'Retreat from Moscow' type flog because back at the first service, at the long gone and un-lamented Guzzi dealer in Canberra someone couldn't read a manual, didn't have a clue and decided he knew how to make it go faster/sound better/pick your choice of 'improvement'?
Should I have picked it earlier? I dunno? Maybe. But when you also throw failing tappets into the equation most tuning issues will become moot.
At the end of the day I'm confident it's finally fixed and with the new, even though imperfect, map it pulls like a freight train from 1,800 to redline in every gear. It isn't a GRiSO and it really needs new front brakes but it's still a great ride!
