You bought as is. Suck it up or fuck off."
I thought this was a discussion board? This is the type of shitty, condescending response I've come to expect from some members on this board. Nobody's whining, just discussing options. I really hate it when pontificating pricks like you hijack an otherwise great board and attempt to make it your own bully pulpit. Must be something in the water in that shitty, provincial backwater where you live that breeds internet bullies.

| Bloody Hell! I don't even have a tacho, I just shift by feel .................... or the rev limiter. (well I can furquen feel that) The more electronic gizmo's they add, just takes away from that personal connection and control I like to have with my mistress machine. Beetle, you pontificating prick (?), maybe you should offer some constructive advice and help instead. |

| Really? I thought pontificating prick fits him pretty well. Show me where I erred on my characterization. You boys are tightly bound by a mistaken belief in your infinite knowledge of all things mechanical and your righteous indignation that we mere mortals or sooks should even be able to post such drivel about discussing alternatives to the GRiSO configuration. Here is some help, step into the 21st century please, for your own sake. Oh and banging your motor off of the rev limiter is surely a prescription for engine longevity. But I guess you already know that.... | |

| Gotta say I bought my GRiSO 'cause I thought it was seriously feature rich with all the good character, bad manners and attitude my first Guzzi had. I lurve the speedo, big numbers for me glazed mince pies, a tacho that probably isn't accurate but it works to redline when I just turn on the ignition, what a buzz. Having to replace the oil pressure switch; some things never change!
Missing features? The whining arse end and lurch to the left when you back off mid corner, a tranny with a box of neutrals if you forget to shift firmly, shit paint, failed light bulbs.
Nah, the 1100 GRiSO has it all for me. Dunno why you philistines all want 1200s and more valvolos, more bloody trouble ;-)
Psst, lets have a sherbet or two and a giggle. We all bought these for different reasons, all legitimate too... or so I keep telling myself.

You bought as is. Suck it up or fuck off. LMAO. I'm not skeered of Beetle. This is exactly what I would expect to hear if we were hanging out at the pub together. Especially from an Aussie. I owe you a cold one Beetle. DM

| Enzo,
Me thinks you're taking this all too seriously. I read Beetle's comment and almost spit out my coffee. I thought it was hysterical and I was not offended.
Let's not forget all the FREE work Beetle has done on mapping. I have not yet updated my map, but I will soon. And I look forward to better fuel mileage and more useable power.

| Guzziboy66, Just to clarify I wasn't offended either. I a grown ass man and I understand good natured ribbing. I am pissed, tell me to fuck off to my face, contentious little prick. I live in Arizona and around here those are words that can get you a ride in an ambulance. My GRiSO has averaged 42mpg since the 3,000k mark and it as smooth as my K1200GT. Fuck mapping just ride the dam thing. Aussie humor, a nation of badass cowboys and you can't even carry a semi auto pistol legally. Now that's funny, any coffee come out your nose? Now I got to get me a sherbet mate. | |

| This IS a discussion board, RIGHT? Sometimes I ask questions but mostly I just offer an opinion. If your opinion agrees with mine, that just means you are right for once. If I ever choose to agree with anybody else, that just means we would both be wrong.
I've been accused of trying to re-invent the wheel for the last 40 years, glad to say I've finally put that one to rest. Now can anybody help me fit a hydrogen fuel cell?
I love this board, because it IS a discussion board. I value the opinions of the Ropers, Pauldaytona and Uzi etc. I may even think they are wrong but I value their opinions, coz at the very least they make me hang my tongue out the other side of my mouth, so I can see things from a different angle.
With Guzzi's, I'm glad they aren't perfect. This affords me and all the other wannabe engineers an opportunity to fuck with something and occasionally improve it. By comparison, what could I do to an R1 or S1RR, add bling? Sorry, not part of the sheep herd mentality.

'Copacetic', meaning something is in excellent order or satisfactory, is an obscure American expression with many stories about where it comes .................. and the ghetto breathed a sigh of relief, nothing to see here, move along

| Although smileys help in dissociating sarcasm from harsh words, typing on the Net will never be like having a real conversation so no one should fly off the handles right of the bat over posting... Enzo, good on you to recognize you took it over the top. Osstralians have their own Jargon eh? There's a thread about it too on these boards. Like the Irishs... they call each other "cunts" for no particular reasons really. LOL And then there are the stupid French... forget those cheese eaters! | |

I had a BMW R1200GS last week, with gear indicator and oil temperature gauge. Convenient, seriously. So too were the heated grips, luxury. It had everything some GRiSO owners here desire, except character and charisma. Over a period of six weeks a choice was made on which modern bike would grace the shed. The GS with its flawless operation or... the GRiSO. New to me, complete with challenges compounded by poor servicing, ignorance and eventual neglect over 8 years. Bugger, you blokes can guess which one I sold Maybe I'll update the shed notebook , yeah the one with Beetle maps and GuzziDiag. Loving the learning curve, BMW gave me none of that Horses for courses. Red Neddy is ready

| Well, that pegged everything in the red on the 'Weird-shit-O-meter.!"
It's happened to me on several occasions. Someone's nose gets out of joint because I've said something that in Oz would maybe get a chuckle but seems elsewhere to cause great offence.
Just look on it as a characteristic of the WORLD wide web. There are going to be misunderstandings. I find some things said and assumed by people from other cultures really quite offensive but well, you know, I accept it. I don't suggest they need a ride in an ambulance or threaten them with a gun!

| Delicate feelings and international misunderstandings aside, I think we ALL can agree that GRiSO is NOT defined by its missing features, nor is it terribly handicapped by the lack of them. I just happen to think those features should be part of the basic package on every premium motorcycle, period. | |

| I find as I get older concentrating on thing(s) other than breathing, can be taxing for what few brain cells I have left. Eye sight or lack thereof means I can't read instantly the small digits on my dash. The biggest numbers are on the speedo, only discovered recently the 8 of "80" is actually a 9. Lucky I didn't get pinched. While I do like to know what is happening inside the heart of my beast, as Roper pointed out the other day, too much information can detract from the ride. Spent 40 years canning the piss rain, hail or 45°C shine, and never gave a thought to my oil temp. Owned an air cooled Ducati with oil cooler and temp guage, spent too much time with duct tape in winter, or waiting in the shade in summer. As for gear indicators etc, got so busy in the office yesterday I was doing seemless down changes without the clutch - never had time to look at the clocks. If I slow down I get bored, s'pose then I could entertain attachment of a notebook on the tank. But then we get back to the lack of brain cells, and that's when I'm most dangerous. Less is more ............................ |

| Roper it seems that reading comprehension is not one of your higher skills, to wit: "Aussie humor, a nation of badass cowboys and you can't even carry a semi auto pistol legally." How you could somehow accuse me of threating someone with a gun from this quote is absurd. I was pointing out the irony, guess you missed it. This last passage is classic Pete Roper, king of passive/aggressive dialogue. "Just look on it as a characteristic of the WORLD wide web. There are going to be misunderstandings. I find some things said and assumed by people from other cultures really quite offensive but well, you know, I accept it" Is it possible for you be any more intellectually disingenuous? Peace out.... | |

| Interesting thread this one.. Emotions running high over the interpretation of the written word and anger over what what is perceived to be ignorance .. Can you all imagine if in fact we were all in a pub with some beers instead , i am sure the opinions would be more restrained yet the point would be taken as serious still. I tend to take the written word with a grain of salt when on a thread like this, as my answers are generally meant to be open minded to others. I understand that different parts of the world generate tolerances that may be viewed as unacceptable by others. it is ..what it is.. Being a Canadian its part of our culture to be accommodating/ polite. We generally draw a hard line only when our nationality comes into question and that is about it. Australians , Americans , British , all cultures have their own inherit ways as well . We all have in common The GRiSO that in itself is the tie that should bind.

| Lol, what a storm in a teacup I went out with an Aussie girl for many years, Queenslander, lovely girl. Typical phone call - Hey, guess what I'm finishing early today Fuck off, (that's great) When'll you be home Hey, have to work late again Fuck off (oh no) I'll put your dinner in the microwave (or dog, depending) Fancy going out for a pint? Fuck off (yes please) Yes, your arse does look big in that Fuck off (seriously, fuck off) As with all speech patterns, it's all in the expression given in the intonation It's just a turn of phrase, being of Scots and Irish descent, having served some of my time in the shipyards of Glasgow, it's just a part of speech. Kind of like the American Fuggeddaboutit. Means different things all the time There's no insult there, it's just part of common vernacular, used all the time. We're an diverse and slightly off centre bunch here. I like to think. Whilst we may occasionally misunderstand each other or grasp the wrong end of the nettle, I would seriously hope that this board does not descend into the puerile childish petulance which can infest other communities. God knows, there are few enough of us weirdos around, lets not start divisive tactics. She did make great toast. Oh, btw, if you yearn for a gear indicator, try this [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Fuck sake
