I've ridden my Mandello s quite a bit now, and being an old superbike race tuner of course I couldn't just leave it alone.

The biggest improvement came from fitting Dunlop Roadsmart 4 tires, the steering feel is much lighter and more accurate, the bike "feels" 100 pounds lighter and of course there is now nearly track level grip.

I also addressed the heavy/full throttle flat spot in third gear before 5000 rpm where the throttle plates abruptly snap open. This is an issue caused by conforming to Euro5, many other Euro5 bikes have similar running quirks.
The fix is to remap using Upmap. Upmap is a phone app that talks to a "puck" plugged into the bike's communication port under the seat, it is simple and easy to use. I ditched the ten million pound (and ugly!) stock end can replacing it with an Agostini slipon with db killer in, it is just about as quiet yet dropped a bunch of weight.
Up map has a map for that configuration, along with about a dozen others. The result is perfectly civilized running, and maybe a touch more top end power. Maybe.

I also fitted the factory heated comfort seat and larger windscreen.

The thing that took the most time and effort was generating a personalized damping setting in "manual suspension 1" that I have designated for road mode. It is now firm yet plush with excellent handling.

Thus dialed in, it really is an excellent motorcycle.

I've been through several different sets of tires on my V100S, but I haven't tried the Dunlops yet. I stopped using them on another bike when the became as expensive as the Michelin Road 6s. Sad
I have my manual damping settings in my Sport mode, and the preload front and rear are either maxed out or close to it. At least I haven't touched down the header pipe guards recently.

This is good info! Can you share the suspension settings you came up with? I'd be interesting to try it.

Will the Agostini exhaust work well without the remapping? I like the look and wouldn't mind the weight savings, but not sure I want to do the "upmap" thing (yet).

The tip on the tires is helpful too -- I will look at getting those when I get through the stock tires.

Dave,

On tires, what are your thoughts on differing brands between front and rear?

I recently aquired a second used GRiSO with Metzlers, the front being a roadtec z8. This front tire had worn into a "triangular" shape (flats on either side to a point in the middle) and I was unable to get it to corner. So stiff was the steering I lifted the bike off the ground to check the head bearings and preload which turned out to be OK. I wish I had thought to get a pic prior to dismounting the tire as the flats are not so prominent once off the rim.

I installed a new Michelin Pilot Road 4, same as my other GRiSO, and found the bike to then corner wonderfully without altering any suspension settings. I wanted to experiment with tires first prior to altering the as purchased setup. Although the rear Metzler is somewhat square, the machine now feels good in backroad corners.

NEVER mix tire profiles, and therefore brands/models unless fu'd up handling is you goal.
