Hi everyone,
I met a Guzzi mechanic that was saying wonders about using the CERATEC engine oil additive from Liqui Moly, from engine smoothness to reduced oil consumption.
Does anyone has any experience with this?

My experience with oil additives has not been positive. The composition of the additive may not be compatible with the various components already in the oil. Buy good oil and don't screw with it.

If their oil is so fucking good why does it need additives?
Snake oil.

I met this guy on a Moto Guzzi meet in Spain. He had a bike like mine and he was just saying he uses this additive and was happy with it, not really pushing it.... But I understand what you guys mean...
By the way, which sort of grease are you guys using for the driving shaft? Bearing Grease?

......was he 'unhappy' or just 'richer' before he tipped the additive in ?
For driveshaft splines read [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Richer, for sure... He was using ceramic aditives in both he engine oil and gearbox oil. He said the gearbox was smoother too. It caught my attention because I have an anoying whinning noise coming from the drive train.
Now I will be doing the suspension shock (spring change+rebuild), suspension links, and swing arm bearings. I will take the opportunity to grease the shaft splines as well. Can dry splines be noisy?

I use watch oil with nano diamonds on watch movements they're supposed to be like mini ball bearings but this is a relatively slower pace than adding a possible abrasive into you engine at 4-8k rpm

Yes....I'm going to pass on that.... Any sugestions for the swingarm bearings & splines grease ?

Hi Matias, I think the experts here recommend marine grease for its ability to shed water. Of course I read that after I did mine and used an automotive grease with molybdenum I think. In ten years, I’ve been in the rain twice for about ten minutes……I’d find some marine grease if I was going to do it again. Good luck on the project.

Basically any high temperature bearing grease, (High temp simply because it maintains its viscosity. It won’t get hot in this application.) or better yet a ‘Marine grade’ type as it is less water soluble for the bearings.
For the splines the main function is not so much to lubricate as to block condensation of water from the air which promotes oxidisation which then gets knocked off in service and this happening repeatedly will cause the splines to erode.
If when you drop the bevelbox and swingarm off you find the swingarm bearings are OK you can just pack them without removing the driveshaft from the gearbox output shaft. To lube the splines at that end just use some chain lube. This is basically a sticky grease held in suspension in a volatile liquid, you simply spray it up into the front knuckle of the driveshaft and it will wick up the splines before the volatile propellant evaporates off and leaves the grease on the splines. It’ll work fine on the rear UJ and pinion splines as well but since the bevelbox is off you can easily just slop some grease on there with your finger.
Shock linkage bearings the same marine grade grease as the swingarm bearings.

Used the Ceratec in my wife's car. Feels smoother for a couple of months then it returns as it was. Will not use it again as I saw no actual benefit.
Just put some good oil in your GRiSO and forget about it
