Please could you confirm whether or not the ECUs in recent Guzzis (V100 to be specific) detect and store details of attempts to access the ECU via third-party OBD readers?
I ask because I am aware that BMWs used to do this exact thing...you could plug in your cheapy OBD device but the ECU would come up with an "alien device detected" message. I have heard that this was then used by the BMW Mothership to deny warranty claims on the basis of unauthorised meddling.
Is this likely to be the case? I don't want to go messing with the ECU but I've just obtained an interface lead and I was curious as to what information could be retrieved. But not at the expense of my warranty!
