Hi folks, Looking for some advice from the collective. Last year the ECU on my 2008 1200 GRiSO failed. I bought a second hand one from an 1100, fitted it and it fired up, though roughly as you'd expect. I've downloaded my Beetle map and tried to reset the TPS and auto learning. The TPS is reading 3 rather than the usual 4.7 ish, even after resetting. I enclose 2 photos showing the ECU information. Have I bought the wrong one or is there something else I should be looking at? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Andrew[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Others will guide you better but for starters ..... the ECUs are same AFAIK but the Eeprom is engine specific .....have you loaded the Eeprom for your engine ?. I Believe you can 'just read one' off a similar GRiSO 1200 using IAW5AMEEPROMTool V0.04 (5AM) from Guzzidiag but I've no experience of that !

Hi Paul, I wasn't aware of the Eprom. I'll look it up and try using the Guzzidiag tool to download it to my ECU. I'll see if I can find a copy of the 1200 Eprom online. Thanks

BTW I just read somewhere else that all GRiSO dashboards are switchable ---so I'd would wait & get better advice than mine !

I've just checked the receipt and I think it was from a Breva!

Luckily I kept the old ECU. I've just downloaded the Eprom from that and written it to the 'newer' one. It instantly ticks over better, though is backfiring.

My earlier optimism was unfounded. The TPS still reads 3. Any further advice gratefully received. Thanks Andrew

This is very odd as the TPS value is interpretive, not absolute. When you recalibrate the value, no matter what it is delivering voltage wise the ecu should see it as the baseline value of 4.8 or whatever.
While it might be a long shot you could try re-downloading Guzzidiag and seeing if that makes a difference? It probably won't but it's worth a try.
Are you getting any error codes detected? Either in Guzzidiag or through the dash?

Hi Pete, At first I used the latest v60 version then tried with an older v50 I had on my laptop. Same reading. I'll double check error codes tomorrow. It's possible the secondhand ECU is faulty?

FYI all 1 Lambda 5AM EEPROM's are the same, except for the Bellagio.
Many questions.
What was knackered in your original ECU? Obviously k-line communication wasn't the problem.
Have you checked the pins on the TPS? Checked the voltage (~5V)? Got a good ground?
When you connect with GuzziDiag and view the Throttle measurement, does it seem to increase and decrease smoothly when you open the close the throttle?

^^^^^^
I'm puzzled by this as well. The W5AM is pretty much bombproof. The only one's I've ever replaced were a couple on one bike that got voltage spiked due to a faulty loom.
