| I just got my 2013 GRiSO in on the first service and after complaining about the poor running under 40MPH I was told that the ECU had been updated with the 2230G802 map. It does run better but still has a little surging at low rpms. Is this map the best they could give me or is the 68 the one to get? | |

| The O2 map was an improvement on the 01 but your bike being a 2013 should of come with the GRS8V-03 map which, if the bike is set up properly, should be smooth, if uninspiring.
In my experience the 68S map was the best of the factory options but its still fairly ordinary compared to what Mark has achieved so I would strongly recommend you download Guzzidiag and Reader and Writer and upload a suitable map we can flick you via email.
What I would say is that if the bike was misbehaving with the GRS8V-03 map in it isn't tuned right. Unfortunately a lot of places seem to think changing maps will act as a sort of panacea for all ills. It won't. If the bike isn't tuned properly to start with its always going to run like shit.

| Thanks Pete:
I am new to this fuel injection thing and the GRiSO, so I am taking things slowly. I think my dealer did the adjustments for the first service properly and they fixed the non venting gas tank. The bike runs much better but I could be improved at low speeds. I am reading the documentation on balancing, PS reset and maps, it a lot to digest! I will be doing my own service for the most part so I will eventually be using Guzzidiag.

| Hmm. Do the factory tools allow map 'downgrades'? The 2230G802 is an older version as Pete says. The '13 came with the 2230G803 map. One wonders why they would do that?
I suspect the slightly better running is due to the auto learning trim parameters having been reset. It's likely the ECU will keep trimming until the poor running returns.

Do you have some documentation that shows what year bike is supposed to have what map? I found a map page from 2009 but it doesn't show the 03 map. I would like to discuss this with my dealer and it would be nice to have a piece of paper to show him.
Thanks

| All the 8V GRiSOs should be running the current map, which is the 03 map. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]2012 MOTO GUZZI GRiSO 1200SE2013 MOTO GUZZI STELVIO 1200NTX - Orange Blossom Special | |

| It used to be that you couldn't retro-map with Guzzis, ie you couldn't put in an earlier version of a factory map to overwrite a later one. Whether this is still the case I'm not sure as I haven't checked, why would I? the factory maps are all fairly crappy!
With Aprilias you've always been able to chop and choose, for some reason Guzzis were different.
The GRS8V-03 map was released in about April-June 2010 from memory. There have been no further changes since.

I've got the same doc I suspect. I don't have any of the official bulletins (Pete may have access to them). My '10 GRiSO came with the 03 map, and all post '10 GRiSO's I've sucked a map out of (or had sent to me) or investigated has had the same 03 map. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! .

| There must be someone in LA using Guzzidiag? Hook this bloke up with the 'Stock' Beetlemap someone.
Oh, and check his tune. The air bleeds are usually the dead giveaway.

| When I was at the dealers for service I asked the mech what map was in my ECU, he said it was the 802. I suspect that was the map that came with my bike. So, moving up to the 03 map will not give me much of an improvement with the stock pipe?

| Probably make it smoother at lower RPM that's all. We can send you a map that will make it smoother AND significantly gruntier all the way through and give you better fuel economy!

| OK That sounds like the best option. Now I need to study how to get it from the computer to the GRiSO. Also need to learn how to reset the TPS and balance the intakes. This is a new world for me, last bike was a carbed Buell. | |

| Pete, correct me if I'm wrong, with PADS, a check on the map will always give the latest, and should be 803 for newer bikes? How is possible the dealer put 802 in? Maybe he has not PADS but navigator with old maps?
I only have the 2230G803 CM227001 , not the 802

| Yup, see my reply a bit up the thread. PADS is quite capable of retro-mapping Aprilias but last time I tried it you couldn't do this with Guzzis.
For Guzzis you needed the upload code, (Which I haven't used for so long I've forgotten it!), for Aprilias you just select the map and let it rip!
Its possible that there has been an update for PADS that allows for retromapping Guzzis but if there has, (And to be honest I doubt it.) I've never used it. This is why I was somewhat perplexed by the original story and suggested checking the tune as if the owner was told that an earlier map had been put in it might be a bit of a fib and if there was fibbing about that the it might well be that the mechanic who worked on the bike was a wee bit clueless and might of fiddled with stuff that shouldn't be fiddled with.
