Hello All, I’ve owned a couple of Guzzis in my 20s and 30s a V50 and a LM4. I’m looking at Grisos at the moment and I’m 6ft2 but have not had the chance of a test ride. May just take the plunge and adjust a wee bit! (Both me and perhaps the pegs). Happy New Year! Jim

We had a member here who lived in Stirling. Perhaps you could connect if you take the plunge.

I’m still considering but I think mostly made up my mind. Just a few details to sort out like a garage to rent.

I did check out Jim Allan’s website ( The Stirling Guzzi dealer) but they were not showing any used bikes. They may deal in new only? How was the NC500?

If you can stand the inter-city hate I can put you in contact with my mate John in Glasgow, he doesn't have a CARC bike but has a couple of Magni's and a Daytona, (Yeah, he's mad, but in a good way.). He can probably give you a couple of hints.
(Piss taking aside you can take anything John tells you to the bank. He wrote a much more useful and detailed tech write up in 5 speed gearboxes than I ever did. He's a font of knowledge.)

The NC500 was very good (2100 mls including the trip up) unfortunately (ahem) i will have to do it again because 1) my wife wants to come on it 2) i went through my rear brake pads. So (forgetting that i could not replace them without removing the blethy caliper) between Ullapool and Oban i went across to Inverness to get spares and missed out on Applecross

Only 6-1 but not young. lower pegs and shimmed up bars did the trick
Good luck

The bike I was looking at ( at a large dealer in England) has a crack in the glass of the instrument panel. I did not haggle on the selling price but asked that the panel be made fit for purpose. (replaced) They were not prepared to do that and I was wondering if the glass could be changed on the panel? Cheers Jim

The *Glass* isn't available as a separate part. You'd have to find a failed dash and swap the cover off it onto the other instrument. This in and of itself is no easy feat.
Having a cracked screen would greatly increase the risk of water ingress which you really don't want on an electronic dash that controls things like the indicator functions as well as security.
You can get clear plastic 'Protectors' to go over the screens but I don't know if their purpose is anything other than cosmetic.

Exactly Pete, I work on production environments electrical systems as my job. I messaged the sales agent and said the ingress protection rating of the instrument panel is now gone due to the crack. He did say initially that he would ask his boss to replace it, if I would purchase it,but the manager refused to do that. In all other ways the Superbike Factory seem excellent to deal with. I said the panel needs changed the only question is who oayes for the repair. There is a warranty with the bike ( I am not sure how they would handle a warranty claim on the instrumentation considering they had prior knowledge that it had failed) I don’t have much more budget wise for a bike and this seemed reasonable value at around 4.7k

I just had a search on Goggles and found this company offering a pick up repair and deliver service for a fixed price. ( £200+VAT) I’ll post the link later as I can’t post links for the first seven days. The company is autotronics.

It must be rollerised! If not it may be worth £1500 ish
How mant miles? ideally more than 15k so you know it has been reliable and less than 80k so the clutch has some life in it.

I just searched and found this from a posting by Pete above: Firstly let's cover which bikes need rollerising.
Most importantly it is ONLY the four valve per cylinder, (8 valves all told so I'll refer to them henceforth as 8V's.) engines that were subject to the Flat Tappet Fiasco. None of the CARC bikes that use the venerable two valve per cylinder pushrod operated OHV engine suffer from chronic cam and lifter problems.

True
I thought you were looking at a 1200 GRiSO - they are all 4valve heads.
Hell if you wait a month you can buy mine 43,000 miles, rollerised (i will lift the covers for you to see), replaced and greased suspension and swing arm bearings, Startus Interruptus fixed, Marlin screen and a good instrument pack ! But i will be looking for £5700
