How to clean spoked wheels

Anyone have suggestions to how to clean to spoked wheels of general grime, gunk, elements of life? The bike has been near (-ish) to the Pacific Ocean, so the spokes have a little layer of grime that need some cleaning without disturbing the chrome finish.

Sorry to say, after decades of owning spoke wheeled motorcycles, I've found no magic bullet for cleaning wheels.

On wash day I use a variety of brushes and maybe even scotch bright pads on individual spokes to get the wheels clean. I clean with the regular bucket of bike wash. Sometimes using a spray bottle of Simple Green, just don't leave it too long it will etch bare aluminum. I've thought of using some sort of Automotive Wheel Cleaner but haven't gone that far, yet.

What I don't miss is getting chain lube off the rear. Plus one for shaft drive!

I use car wax on the wheel and blue magic metal polish on the spokes. The front wheel with the dual discs is next to impossible to clean. I got the spokes that I can reach shiny and they’ve pretty much stayed that way for a couple of years. No special tools, just a rag and the cleaner and clean one to finish.

hello, take a discarded toothbrush and Autosol polish. With it you can clean the spokes excellent and polish with another again. The rest you do with a thin cloth and wrap it around each spoke.

I've used a bottle brush. They make many different kinds of spoke brushes and one looks like a bottle brush.
