Got 2010 4v 1100 last year from a friend who could no longer ride due to health issues.
10k miles and history from new. Got an aftermarket can. Will post pics when allowed.
Issues after it having been stood is poor tickover once warmed up and unhappy at low revs (lots of clunking). Once out on the open road and given the beans it goes well but around town not so much.
So any advice welcome. Suspect it needs a remap and/or throttle bodies balancing.

Beetle can provide you with an excellent map. Whereabouts in Wales are you?

First of all service and tune it. There is no point in doing anything until you have a baseline from which to work.

Service done (oil/filter, gearbox and final drive oil changed). Fresh super unleaded fuel used.

What Pete probably means in this context is that you should make sure the valve clearance is correct, air filter is clean, CO adjusted and trottle body balanced. If the bike still is not running nicely, you should concider a new map . My guess...

Yes what Bjor said
And with Guzzi (and some others) really not much point in balancing the throttles before the valve clearances are correct
