Funny thing happened while hanging out at a winery...

So it's Sunday afternoon, I'm minding my own business, enjoying a delicious Cabernet, snacking on some salami and sharp Irish cheddar, sitting with a very pretty woman and listening to a very pleasant combo on the winery patio. We had just been here to this winery perched above the Columbia River Gorge the evening before to see Buddy Guy and Peter Frampton, which was a great show...

Since we didn't really have a chance to check out the winery during the concert, we decided to go back and have some lunch before heading home. The winery sits on a spectacular location atop the rim of the gorge on the Washington side of the Columbia River about 30 miles or so NE of Hood River, Oregon. As coincidence would have it. The Oregon State Guzzi Rally was going on this same weekend just another 10 or 15 miles South of Hood River.

I'd just popped back into the winery to fetch a couple of bottles of cool water as it's a warm afternoon when I spot some motorcyclists up at the tasting bar, one of whom is wearing a Moto Guzzi cap. Being a Guzzi guy, I have to go say hello, so I start chatting them up and ask if they were just at the Rally down in Odell. Says one of them (with a hint of an accent not from these parts, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Says I, "You must be the Canadians, the Stradivarious guys. I ride a GRiSO, I'm from Seattle."

Says he, "Are you familiar with the GRiSO ghetto?" ghetto

Turns out it's our own Frypan, his wife, with another GRiSO guy (who I don't think is a member here, but should be...) and his companion who just happened to pop in to the very same winery where I was camped out.

So we went out to the parking area and checked out their two GRiSOs, a Norge and a racy little BMW. We kicked some tires, talked about mods, and suggested a few roads in the area. A serendipitous meeting for sure, I headed back to our table and the dog. Completely forgetting to snap some photos. So I whipped back out to the lot to just catch them exiting back out onto the highway, singing that beautiful GRiSO music...

Okay so Steak meets the Frypan. Small world. Even smaller when you ride a Guzzi.
Just got back from that fantastic 9 day ride in Eastern Oregon (John Day area), western Idaho and eastern Washington. Managed to make a brief appearance at the Odel gathering. In John Day we got to meet Hutch,the guy that produces all the maps showing the best MC roads in eastern Oregon, eastern Washington and Western Idaho. Vivian and Debbie were so giddy they had to get his autograph on his latest map.

He counts the corners on each road and posts them on his maps. I lose count after 10 as I find it hard to ride with my boots off scratch

but according to Hutch's maps we did hundreds and hundreds of corners. So many good roads so little time. Crying or Very sad

You mean the Olympia Airglide in "if you pull out in front of me while I'm in this jacket you are either legally blind or you are heading for of a sip of that giant lime margarita, in which case you have smoked one 'J' to many" that would be me Frypan. The Norge rider is my wife Vivian.
