It has been rollerized since 2000 miles, is relatively well sorted. Very good condition, no leaks, etc.
I've never bought a bike with as many miles on it, but I've gotten them up that high...

Nope. It'll probably need swingarm bearings, a shock linkage and new bearings in the wishbone if they haven't been greased at some point. And the throttlebodies should be checked carefully for signs of abuse. Apart from that it's almost run in.....

Swingarm bearings aren't very expensive but getting the old races out of the frame requires a bit of a 'Knack'! If the bearings in the shock linkage/double conrod are shot, (Which if it's been ridden much in the rain is highly likely.) then it's cheaper to just buy a new double conrod and grease it properly prior to installation than to buy all the individual pins, bearings and seals to rebuild it and then factor in the time or waste your own doing it. The wishbone bearings are worth replacing. If the wishbone bearings have been run dry for a long time? Check the web in the wishbone for cracks.
If the throttlebodies have been messed with, (I suggest you watch my video in the technical section so you know what to look for.) then you may well be up for a new set of throttlebodies. Big dollars! Don't necessarily write the bike off but factor that into the purchase price.
If it has any sensor foolers, a power commander or any 'Performance tuning' options like aftermarket air filters or the like treat it with great skepticism.

It has a Beetle Tune and an Agostini exhaust. With 24K miles where I am I'd imagine it has seen its share of rain.

Well the Beetlemap is a bonus. Probably means it hasn't been buggered about with. Really they are pretty unburstable once rollerised. The only reason the frame and suspension bearings are an issue is because they don't grease them adequately at the factory. They should be stuffed full of grease to help keep the water out and serviced from time to time. It makes all the difference.
If it gets a yearly service make sure the clutch fluid gets done every time. Both V11's and CARC bikes are murder on clutch fluid. Nobody knows why exactly, they just are.

Thanks. The problem is I wont have an option to check the throttle bodies. It's a fair deal so I dont mind if its around $500 US, figuring all else will be around that too. Beyond that price though and there would be other bikes I would prefer.

Can you hear it running? If the throttlebodies have been monstered it won't tick over very consistently and will have a tendency to spit back through one or other of the throttlebodies at idle when warm. If it idles consistently at 1,250 +/-50 rpm when warm with no hiccups it's probably all good.
Just on the rollerisation thing? You do know it has been rollerised? You aren't just being told that the 'Recall has been performed'? There was never a recall for Rollerisation. The early bikes though did have a recall to swap out the original cast iron tappets to ones made of forged steel with a DLC coating on. This was NOT a fix and is not 'Rollerisation' which is the only cure for the flat tappet failure issues of the pre-2012 bikes.

I have a video of it running that I could email you, along with a photo of the repair order and exactly what it says

Evenhanded, if they can send videos and photos of work orders ask them to pull the rocker cover and send a photo of the lifter arrangement. It takes all of 15 minutes, if you're slow, to do this from start to finish. This will remove all doubt as to roller or no roller condition. Plenty of info on this site regarding what you should be looking at with rollers installed.
At 25K miles its just getting broken in. Follow Pete's service recommendations and you should be fine for many miles.
I'm down here in Indianapolis and may be able to lend technical assistance or at least moral support.

Private sale by the look of it. The vid I've seen makes me think it probably has been rollerised but no guarantee. I dunno. It looks clean and unmolested. At $3.5K I'd hit it.....

I wouldn't trust any claim of rollerisation without confirming it with my own two eyes. Too many claims of rollerisation end up being just a factory replacement of DLC flat tappets.

If $3.5K is the new benchmark for used 1200 GRiSOs, I am going to start collecting them.

We've been emailing. If I was coming to the US again for a holiday I'd buy the fucker, ride the tits off it and abandon it at the bloody airport! That price is insane in Oz terms!

Yes. I’m no longer interested - it’s on the Detroit FB marketplace. Fella was very nice, great price and he has records he’s kept himself but I won’t buy a bike that I’m not allowed to have a mechanic look over. Sad because it’s a fantastic price on a bike that appears to be rollerized but i guess I’m being too particular. Thanks for everyone’s input!

You want him to do this at the very least [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
If he can change the oil he can do this for you
$50 towards deposit should see him getting a mechanic to do it or his more competant mate down the road. Any other shit you can sort yourself at that selling price as there no getting it lower as that would be insult.
