No! Not from GRiSO! That won't happen! But the Green Horror's paintwork has lost some of its lustre and it's picked up a few scrapes and scratches over the years so the time has come for a re-vamp of it's colour scheme.
The new tailpiece arrived from Europe this morning, (And you really don't want to know how much that cost!)and I dropped it, the tank and wings off to Jacko's paint shop this morning. Now the waiting begins.
With a bit of luck it should be ready before the Cabal at Tony's place.......

And it would appear you'll not be sharing your color choice? Inquiring minds are,,,well,,,inquiring.
I've got my favorites, black, white, and that rich red that Evans used. British Racing Green might make the cut, as well as a dark non-metallic blue.

I've thought the metallic blue that is on old BMW thingies - I also quite like the Light(ish) blue that Volvo used to race over here.
I guess there will be a virtual show and tell here, or I'll await the presentation in a few weeks' time.

Green is very good. But now having the Tenni Shitter as a project I didn't want two green bikes so, given the Tenni Green GRiSO is iconic and the fact the Green Horror was getting a bit shabby it was time for a change.
Now, something people could help me with! Where do you get clear sticky protective stuff to put over the new paint? My gut rubs on the tank and I don't want it damaging the new paint but I don't want one of those shitty 'Tank Protector' things that looks like a lobster that's been run over by a flying saucer piloted by Satan.

Pete, you could try a smaller tank or a smaller gut - either would work well. BTW, My gut's approaching yours in girth. Maybe I need to do something about it...

They put that clear stuff on new cars at points that will pick up stones, so I would think a body shop would have it like you said. And, you should be thinking about a new name if it’s not going to be the Green Horror anymore…

All places that knock out vinyl stickers/window/stock car/advertising on your van, throw sheets of the stuff away. For a couple bucks am sure they will cut it to any shape or size you like.
I rather like my tank protector almost hides the entire lifted off chrome sticker. I did think maybe I wouldn't need one and now even the thing that's on there doesn't cover all the scratches.

Pete, I used the clear headlight protector you can get pretty easily. It worked well on one of my old Ducatis. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Pete,
I know that I've purchased a protective kit especially for the GRiSO after purchasing my first 2007 to protect the tank from the OEM GRiSO tank bag. I never used it, so I know it's buried in a box somewhere in my shop. If something similar is NLA, I can embark on an expedition. It'll be like finding an entrance to a pyramid.

The built-for-purpose motorcycle tank protectors have advantages over merely cutting up & sticking on some book over film. I've used both. The film is merely just OK - it works, but is really too thin, and the edges do not seal well so grime attacks the edges first. The tank protectors are of a thicker, cushiony plastic, which is effective against buckles, buttons & zips. The thickness tapers at the edges, so they tend not to lift at all, even after decades. Third Gear has a transparent version for $10, the Pro Quip ones (more costly) are more generally available, but they usually have the logo on the top too, and they are not willingly to pay an advertising royalty, so best to find plain ones. They are around. I do vaguely remember riding a tank somewhere with an old clear one, just faded into the background, like my memory. I've a couple of spare black ones with the Agostini Mandello label if you want one.
