I'm not particularly good at keeping my bikes pretty but both the Green Horror and the re-birthed shitter have some carbon fibre bits on that are looking a bit the worse for wear.
It's basically mainly sun damage making it fade. Do any of you have any bright ideas s to what to use to restore. Bit of the lustre to their appearance? I'm not expecting miracles. Just a smarten up.
TIA

As long as the clearcoat hasn't flaked off down to the carbon. Sand with 320 to take off the weathering. Then spray a coat of clearcoat. The single pack spray can clearcoat is not a good idea. A good quality 2 pack automotive clearcoat is the go. You only need a small quantity, a car detailer will probably give you what you need. No need for a spray gun for small parts a cheap air brush will do fine. The clear coat will flow to give the finish you want just watch out for spraying too much and getting runs. A light coat and leave for a few minutes then a second coat to get full coverage works well. If it's gone brown then they used an epoxy clear ( a problem we recently had on the bonnet of a $250,000 Aston Martin). If that's the case you'll need to sand the clearcoat off. Sand until the the sanding dust goes black. Be careful not to sand through the weave. Spray three coats of automotive clear to build up from bare carbon. Might sound complicated but it isn't in fact and will get your carbon parts looking brand new.

This is all beginning to sound like a lot of hard work! 🤮
Perhaps they'll just have to stay scruffy. Serves me right for being a wanker and getting stuff made of CF.

I realized after posting that you maybe looking at a carbon fibre sheathed muffler. The standard resins will take up to around 100 degrees Celsius. You'd have to check the suppliers if you think it gets hotter than that. Also if you don't want a gloss finish stir in flatting base to achieve a satin or matt finish. If you buy pre mixed satin or matt make sure to stir well. The matting base sinks to the bottom after a while.
