Longer term plan involving rebuilding CARC bevel box sounds like too much pain for a small cosmetic gain....
Even scrapped boxes have your patina & at least your CARC wording isn't fecked (see ebay currently)

And Carc covers don't look much better than scratched ones IMHO (before we start on the price)

I think best option is to dress it carefully and paint it satin black where it's scratched - 90% better and 300% cheaper !
I saw this eBay ad last week, and tend to agree with you. I enquired about spares with MG dealer, can only be purchased complete with its internal drive gears…2300 UKp I like the term, ‘Patina’

They actually crash pretty well. The valve covers should be considered sacrificial. If you end up like me or Pete, you won't be selling it, ever...
I’ve seen ‘head’ protectors, that bolt down under the rocker cover with an extra gasket. Are these of use?

Not for the 8V you haven't. There is no way to retain anything between rocker cover and head on the 8V. There are a variety of rocker protection bars for the pushrod motors but the Hi Cams can't use them.

KC34 in Italy make some bolt-on valve cover crash protectors for the 8V. They look functional, but a bit naff. I wanted a set until I saw them on MrBob’s Tenni.
I’ve crashed my GRiSO around 8 times. I’ve repaired mine many times. They’re about 40% JB Weld now. I have spare new ones in case I hole one, however.

Problem is that on the 8V anything designed to 'Protect' the rocker covers that bolts onto the four rocker cover retaining bolts is going to transfer all the force of any tip over directly to the cambox/rocker carrier casting. It's going to do that through four 6mm threads into a light aluminium casting just below the rocker cover. The amount of energy required to do serious damage to that casting is fairly minimal.
Really, far better to just sacrifice a rocker cover or build something like Evans has. A sort of 'Scuff pad' for the outside of the cover.
The reality is if you hit anything hard enough to smash a rocker cover the bike will probably be a write off anyway.

The KC34 units don't bolt onto the covers. They attach to the frame.

Ah, ok. So really uggers and instead of breaking the rocker carrier/cambox they break the timing chest or crankcase instead. Brilliant!

Happy with my GRiSO, and already planning upgrades I am very keen on getting a Corbin seat. Are there any Ghetto members with a Corbin or other modified seat in the Northwest of England or North Wales that can meet up to allow me to compare / see what they’ve done.

I just got mine stuffed with memory foam by a seat specialist.
