Hey all! Riding 35 yrs., never MG. Considering GRiSO. I commute, highway, twisties and occasional firebreaks/dirt road communities. Currently ride Yamaha Super Tenere 1200. Anyone mounting 70/30 road/dirt tired on a GRiSO? Ground clearance is good. Not much fork travel but not looking for woops/jumps.

All of the big blocks are good on the road, provided you are not afraid of the bike moving around. I've had my Sport on the dirt quite a few time, even enjoyable getting the back out in a power slide at 80 km/h (50 mph) - oh what fun. However it is not for everyone - wide handlebars really help!
I used to race short circuit (speedway with a r/h turn) for a number of years, still enjoy sliding - maybe I should wind it back a bit - NO!
I have done all of mine on Michelin Road 3/4/5 - kinda like motard. Go have fun.

Thanks Oz! Just what I needed to hear. My Yammy S10 is a top heavy bike. I’m good plowing through the slop on a big heavy yacht. I know in Italy a guy made a dirt track bike he calls Charlotte out of a GRiSO. Ride well... check out: Charlotte, la GRiSO custom di Café Racer Napoli - Lord of the Bikes 2017 (6 di 14) | Moto Guzzi

Fugitive use, I say.
per·ver·sion /pərˈvərZHən/
noun 1. the alteration of something from its original course, meaning, or state to a distortion or corruption of what was first intended. "a scandalous perversion of GRiSO”

Thank you Chris. I plan on wrenching most bike needs myself but if you know of a Guzzi certified mechanic near Greenville, SC please share. Closest I know is Charlotte, NC almost 2 hrs away. Would like to meet up for a ride as well...

Foot down on cornering? No, No, No! Good way to get a broken leg/foot IMHO. Trust the Force. Enjoy the slide.

Charlotte is closest to me too at 3+ hours away. that's where I picked up my GRiSO (got a 2016 new in 2019- been sitting on showroom floor for 3+ years) and is the only NC dealer I know of. I do all my service work as well - this site and the people are a great resource. do some research and have at it. FYI, bearings and a lack of grease is one of the primary concerns starting out.

There was a passerthru some four years ago who knobbified his GRiSO. He did post pictures...
I don't know what became of him.

The early Tennis had all-terrain tyres on them, so meant to be tuttu terrano in the first place! Some do not like the fact that the bike moves around under them, so it's not for everyone.

I can't understand why you would chose a GRiSO for this purpose when a Stelvio is a much better starting point?

For those of us of the correct height... Stelvio is not good = too high x too much weight (pity coz i really like the looks)
So that may be OP's reasoning

You can drop aStelvio and strip off a heap of bodywork easily enough. If you want sufficient travel to do dirt comfortably you're going to need to swap forks and shocks on a GRiSO and that will add height.
Just my beliefs.

Great thiughts and links guys. I really appreciate the conversation. I thought Stelvio but too much like my tenere 1200. Looking more road GT oriented and just love the GRiSO. I did see they came stock with Scorpions. The Shinko 705s are nice too. Looks like this has been done before and I assume with some successes. HopeyI can be in the market soon.

The Stelvio came stock with the Scorpions for a time, but the GRiSOs all came with the lousiest Metzelers ever made. I suppose the Scorpions could have been an improvement.
