Unnecessary, outdated technology. Quite failure prone, stupidly expensive and very, very crude in the way it operates. For a fraction of the cost you can remap your bike with a home built map or purchase one from a reputable supplier like Beetle at GRiSO.org.
Strange thread to tag your query on to??

Sorry. Not to familiar with the posting and different threads. I am getting alot of popping when I let off the throttle. The person who had the bike before took of the db killer. In the proces of putting one back on for backpreassure. I am looking for low end torque i dont really ride open throtle. It has an arrow carbon slip on. Can you please suggest a home mapping item ??

Go to the Guzzidiag thread n the technical section and all is explained there.
There are two other thread continuations there as well.
Yes, the bike will pop on the over-run due to idle fuel being delivered at all engine speeds on a closed throttle. This can be easily cured.
Please don't ramble about 'Back pressure' there is no such thing and it drives me nuts!
Do remember though a re-map, or an aftermarket add on of any sort, (Although I advise strongly against their use, any of them.) is not a magic bullet. To run optimally the bike has to be tuned correctly and it is highly advisable to read up on tuning the W5AM system used on our bikes before adjusting anything. Also beware shops without Guzzi experience as they are just as likely to fuck your bike up as to fix it.

Lots to learn, just bought the bike recently. I had been after one for 5 years now. Used ones began going down in price then went back up again, then I noticed they stated to disapear so I figured its now or never. I appreciate the info. I am going to have to really do some searching for a top noch tech in my area. Thanks again.

There is nothing exotic in tuning a W5AM Guzzi, in fact they are one of the very simplest bikes ever to tune, you don't need some sort of dome headed rocket scientist to make them run right but you do need someone who understands how the system works and what to adjust and what to leave alone. Sadly, a lot of 'Technicians' either can't or won't learn how to perform these simple tasks so you end up with a lot of bikes that run very sub-optimally. Best bet if you can't find someone who knows what they're doing is to learn to do it yourself.

If in the end, you decide that the Power Commander is the way to go, I think that there are at least two gathering dust in the forum classified ads.
Shoot, mine has been there so long without inquiry that I would happily lower the price...

I had thought of that but I always give people the benefit of the doubt. Let's face it, you'd have to be pretty sad to think wasting someone else's time was a funny thing to do. Reall 'World of Warcraft in yer underwear surrounded by pizza boxes' territory.

I have read allt about mapping, spent the $40 for the cable. Live in Miami with 2 kids wife dog cat 2 full time jobs just to keep the house its an incredibly expensive city. I figured slap the box on and hope for the best. But I hope to have the time to dial my GRiSO in. Someday soon. To all that have chimed in I say with all honesty mucho mucho thanks.

Sal, I have a stock pipe but my 2014 would pop on deceleration and down shift from new. Installed Beetle Map, problem solved. Plus performance difference is incredible. You’ll be glad you did it.

All sign point to the remap solution. I ordered the cable takes 2 days to arrive. Afterwards I will breakout my laptop dust it off pray that it works and donate the $$$ for the codes. The engine runs like a popcorn kettle now, so hopefully with luck time and patience. I can get the machine to function. Thanks again.

Hello, I am yes for some time here in the forum.
Read again and again from the "beetle card"... and curse the translation programs.
Have a GRiSO 1100 with Zard exhaust.
Would like smoother onset of power and have the banging gone.
Is the "bug map" an update? How do you install it?
Greetings Holger

The 'bug map' is purchased from Beetle on this forum. To install it you need a set of cables and the 5AM Reader/Writer software, both are listed in this topic:
You can also find the guzzidiag software in this topic which isn't needed for the map install but is super useful for tuning the GRiSO and tracking certain problems.

By all means, please review the "how to" thread on guzzidiag before diving right into the ECU remapping. Also consider that for best results this should be accompanied by the annual tuning process of resetting tappet clearance and balancing of the throttle bodies.
With all that done, enjoy the best your GRiSO has to offer.

Do you think that balancing the throttle bodies should be done before remapping ?

As I've said before, remapping is not a 'Magic Bullet'. If your bike isn't tuned properly it will still run like a sack of shit regardless of what map you have in it.
Set the valves, balance the throttlebodies, load the new map, reset the TPS and clear the trims, set CO trim, (If using an open loop map.).

Go for the Beetle map, very easy to do using Guzzi Diag and the cables, offload current map, upload Beetle Map, reset TPS etc. as per the very good instructions, takes about a half hour, then fire it up, go for a ride and revel in the smooth ride! I am an old fart as well and a sales guy, so it is really that simple. Just do it! Do make sure that your bike is properly serviced before starting out.
