PostSubject: 1200SE AVON TIRES   1200SE AVON TIRES Icon_minitime1Mon Jan 18, 2021 7:18 am

as I am servicing my swingarm, I noticed I will be needing new tires soon.
been through the stock Metzlers, Angel St's and final to angel GTII which seem the best of the bunch as far as wear is concerned.
but the GTII's are starting to get pricey.
I read some good comments on the site about Avon's and am looking at the Avon storm 3D x-M tire but I have a concern about the width.
They are listed at 188mm and Pete had a comment about 188 almost being too wide.
has anyone had any issues with tires of this width?

In my experience wide tyres generally slow down handling and less precise than narrow tyres

I had an Avon Storm 180 (that measured 188) on my rear wheel a few years back. It was too wide, and rubbed on the swing arm. Don't do it.

As I've said before the Continentals work really well. The Road Attacks even last well while sacrificing little or none of the grip and feedback of the Sport Attacks. I'm finding I'm running them a couple of pounds lower front and rear than the Sports though.
