That would be my guess too. Certainly having a dirty great blockage in one pipe and not the other would have to screw the delta fueling up to buggery! Pete

| Checked with the former owner who I know through friends and can rely on, he has owned the bike from new. He confirmed that he has not done any modification or added this item to the pipe. Based on what I can see this looks like a factory instal, it doesn't look like someone has pushed it in, it is to neat. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Numbers on the pipes: Top - right side long pipe - ZGU1004 e11 e3 Lower - Left side short pipe with cat? - ZGU1009 e11 e1 Don't know if these help to identify the headers. Checked the other header pipe and there is nothing inside restricting gas flow. The more I look at it only reinforces my view that it isn't going to come out without fight and the best resolution may be to fit a different header pipe without a cat (if that is what is). update: Just looked at the price of a new header pipe, won't be getting one of those. Might be in for a few hours work with hammer, chisel and dremmel but i will wait until I can clarify the issue correctly. If it turns out this shouldn't be there and it is the wrong part for an Oz bike I might try the importer to see if they will assist. However with a 4 year old bike it might be difficult to convince them. | |

| Just checked my headers. They are both ZGU1004 e11 e3.
I suspect the ZGU1009 e11 e1 is the wrong type for Oz. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! .

| Here's the link - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The left header that I posted above has e11 and e3 mark instead of e11 and E1 mark like yours. As far as I understand, e1/E1 is for Germany market, e11 for UK and e3/E3 is for Italy market. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| Thanks beetle, Very interesting and a logical explanation. Maybe it was built late Friday after a flagon of Chianti was consumed at lunch.
Equally interesting question though is where is it from?

I suspect the ZGU1009 e11 e1 is the wrong type for Oz. Same here, e11 e3 for both headers. Mine is a MY2009 G8VSE Tenni [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

| Mark, check yer work email. I'm getting an out of office reply. I replied about the linkage. Cost price on that pipe is $299 if you want to throw it in with the linkage but nil stock in Sydney....
Try Pinwall in the US. They have wrecked a few, they might have a pipe.

| Well, e1 is Germany, e11 UK. Maybe exhaust guy grabbed the wrong header from the parts bin? Who knows? It would be good if a German member would be willing to have a look at their headers.
Japan is e43 BTW. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! .

| Pete, Away from the office today I can check my emails at home. Thanks for organising that, let me know the final cost of the link so I can organise payment.
I will wait on the pipe at the moment, bike runs ok as is and I will need to rustle up some more cash but I will have to fix it before I update the map. I might ring JSG to see if they will help out as it is pretty obvious that the wrong part was fitted from new but I don't have very high expectations. My planned suspension upgrades will have to wait a while.

| Let me handle it Mark, I may be able to swing it and Peter really prefers being at arms length from end customers, understandably as everybody who gets a flat tyre phones him up to whinge.
Flick me your Vin# and mileage and I'll butter him up and see what I can do. I agree, it should of been delivered with the right bloody pipe!

| Thanks Pete I will leave it in your capable hands. I will email the details. Even a cost price pipe would be a reasonable result but a a free repalcement woud be greatfully accepted.

| I have the occasional run in with our importer but generally I truly believe that the blokes I deal with mainly, Peter who is the warranty guy and Daniel the tech bod are good blokes. Peter really tries hard to do the 'Right Thing' but in a lot of cases things attributed to the importer or factory are in fact the result of slovenly business at dealership and particularly salesman level.
I think this is true in some countries and not in others. The importer level in the UK seems to be particularly bad but once again this could just be hearsay.
For Oz members though I'm always quite happy to fly the kite for serious issues BUT it should be remembered that it's a two way street. If I go in to bat for people,(which takes time guys!) it is really nice if people buy parts off me rather than sending me an email saying "Thanks for the advice! Oh, but I bought the parts from 'X' because they were cheaper than you!" Grrrr!

| Well I'm happy!!!! I have to offer my thanks to Pete for his assistance but especially to JSG (Oz distributor), Moto Guzzi/Piaggio for a positive response. Some might say that the bike is 4 years old (38,000km) so suck it up, others would say they have a moral obligation to replace the incorrect part. I probably sit somewhere in the middle but was hopeful of some consideration. This result is a little unexpected and gratefully accepted and in my opinion reflects favourably on our importer who lodged the warranty claim and Piaggio for accepting it without making me jump through a dozen hoops. Good to see a reasoned and courteous approach getting results or maybe we in Oz are lucky to have a decent local company backing the product. | |
