Engine Oil leak

Good day,

I have noticed that we have a slight oil leak from front of the engine belt housing. Is this a big job to sort this out? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Probably the front crank seal.

Belt cover off, belt off, pulley off, then I think you have to pull the woodruff key out of the crank before flipping the old seal out and installing the new one. The seal is a 22x35x7 and has to be Viton not nitrile due to heat. Then key in, pulley on, belt on, belt cover on.

Thanks for your instant reply. What about alternator does it needs to be removed? If it does do I need to remove fuel tank to remove alternator?

You might be able to just loosen the alt but to do that it’s far easier to remove the tank anyway. It’s only four bolts, two hoses and the fuel connector and pump plug. Much easier with an empty tank.
