Your engine is destroying itself. I strongly recommend you don't ride until you can afford the parts.
'Gaucho' recently rollerised his. I organised the parts, including the stuff for the sump and spacer drop and I think it came in at a smidge over $1000 delivered to him in Florida.

Hi Alex, I posted in your FB thread. GuzziSteve, who is a member here, says the Piaggio NA are still honouring the free kit. You will have to cozy up to a dealer who recognises there's a problem, however. Some of them are not so good at helping. Unfortunately. You'll need to pull your cam boxes to confirm the damage, as photographic evidence is required.
Since you have to pull them, you may as well be prepared to do it regardless of the outcome with Piaggio. Pete is probably your best bet at getting a kit at a decent price.

Yeah I’m going to have my local dealer look into that for me. I’ve already messaged them. Is Piaggio N.A. a particular branch? I know there’s a few Piaggio locations.

Welcome to the Ghetto, Alex. What better way to spend your stimulus check?

Haha ok. N.A. should have known that.
Hopefully If the kit is provided. I’ll use the 2nd stimulus check to cover the labor!

Or do it yourself? I've talked many an owner through it.
Spend the cheque on the necessary tools. Tools will always be useful. The chance of finding someone closer than 300 miles is probably slim. Jim Hamlin seems to be the 'Go To' bloke in the east right now.

Welcome.
Is your "local" dealer Cadre in Cincinnati? They have a great rep.
I am an expat Kentuckian, and am back there -- Whitesville & Owensboro -- for mutton twice a year. The fall visit coincides with the Kentucky rally in Frankfort in September.

He has a dealer in town, Gateway Cycles. They should be able to get you the parts and or do the work. If they unfamiliar w/tech stuff, have them look up Tech Bulletin # 2014-002, 2014-004, 2014-006, can call the Regional Tech Rep for your area. Might be Brad who's here in GA At that mileage, it may not have much wear but still needs to be done, it will fail The book time may give them 4hrs, but you can do it in 2. Even an old slow guy like me can do it in 1 1/2 hrs but I've done a shitload. All the way back to the newer flats every 4V got in 09. That is a nice Black one.

I have gateway cycles looking into it for me. For the free supplied kit from Piaggio. They haven’t got back with me yet. I guess I need to contact Piaggio and see if they are still supplying them for free at the request of a dealer. I’ve been having trouble finding out how to do that

Would love to finally get them repacked and the bike reprogrammed or beetle mapped is what they call it. Just can’t squeeze out the $1200 for the kit right now

For FREE parts, make an appointment to be inspected. Dealer takes ea side apart & takes pics of infected followers & cams. Pics sent to warranty dept to be determined for repair. They have to have DLC coming off or no go. At 7Kmi it may not show. Some show early others not. I seen it at 10K on up.
If you are OK w/wrenching, look at it yourself. Saves shop time for a no go. You'll need the big kit w/springs & shims for valves. You only have to take the tower up to look. No biggie.

I’m ok with wrenching. Definitely not new to working on things. But I’ve never worked on a Guzzi before. Be nice if someone had a video or step by step for checking the wear on the tappets and cam lobe. Would I need all new gaskets for taking it apart?

No gaskets to check. Pete here did a real nice picture tutorial. It's in Grisology.

I've also done a video that is in the tech section of removing the left hand cambox. The video is thirteen minutes long and I wasn't rushing.......

Welcome!
My '11 showed wear at 8k no problem. My friend had helped me inspect one side to verify before I took it to the dealer. The battery remival/install was probably the hardest part. If you dont mind wrenching you could just check a side

You need to remove the battery to inspect the tappets?
