ok,
the bike I'm looking at
black silver 2013 SE
registered july 2013
9000km
engine no. 0141xx
dealer says they serviced it a 5.5k and it had the rollers
they are a knowledgable dealer
I'm golden right?
(they've resisted whipping off the rocker covers)

why would they resist if it led to a sale rather than create suspicion

Sorry. Can we pause a minute where exactly is Euskal Herriat? Google maps gives me a train station in Northern Spain, (I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if this is a Basque or otherwise separatist area or if this has any relevance to the nature of your enquiry.) but can you tell us the market you are hoping to buy in? The flag in your avatar doesn't appear to be Spanish?

There are 5 provinces of the basque country.
3 are in Spain
2 are in France
They are all contiguous.
Euskal Herria means basque country in Basque.
Ongi Etorri means welcome.
Iep means hi.
Aratsalede-on means good evening so...
Iep Pete, aratsalde-on. Ongi Etorri!
As stated in one of my earlier posts, I'm attempting to buy in France.

no probs.
so whatcha reckon?
I'm 99 per cent on taking the plunge on the silver/black model
Gonna call them tomorrow, was a busy day at work today.
they seem reluctant to pull the rocker cover though which slightly bugs me.
With that engine number I imagine I'd be really unlucky not to have a factory roller bike on my hands.

I’d be telling them that removing the valve cover and sending a pic to you will guarantee a sale if it confirms it’s a roller. Play hardball.

'13 is the Lucky year!
I have the same/similar and have been happy with it.
So far it's been very easy to live with. Beetle Map, of course, is a must do.
Most all the info you'll need is available here at the ghetto.

Excellent!
Along with the Beetle map, please perform a proper valve lash adjustment per Roper spec. The map is optimized with this valve lash. I can attest the engine is pure bliss when Beetle/Roper ized.

all plated up, insured and the bike is here!!!
loaded beetles excellent map immediately
and fitted rizoma bars (006 I think), very nice. vast improvement over the wide bars.
impressions
the good
-incredible engine -fantastic useable power delivery -good choice of riding positions, you can kind of get up over the bars or further back and upright -a lot of nice detail and obviously the bike is a stunner -electronics seem great, love the one touch starter button
stuff that might take some time getting used to
-long wheelbase -slight jerk to the drive train when picking up the throttle from closed when exiting a slow corner for example (its been about 6 years since I rode FI so maybe it's me or... see below)
and the bad... -what the f are those mushroom bolts that retain the handlebars??? Like they are made of nothing but optimism, I didn't know you could make steel that weak. Some proper bolts are on order.
-seems like theres a lot of free play in my throttle before it starts to turn the butterflies, anyone got an accurate distance to set it to? Or for that matter some info on how to fix?
Funny thing happened after I installed the bars... tightened everything up and then pressed start... nothing
spent about 30 seconds in shock until I remembered modern bikes won't play if they're in gear!! doh! bike did me a favour really.
also strange getting used to non-linked brakes after so long on the tonti. A simple tap of the right foot ain't the cure all it used to be! Will take me a day to get out of the habit...
Thanks again to everyone,
I'm gonna do the radiator mod and then ride this badboy until the paint falls off.
meeting up with a friend who does smartphones this arvo, so might get some pics. maybe. possibly. not really my thing!

ps i might add to the bad column
it would be nice if you could fit a tubeless repair kit under the seat!!! mine is just too bulky...

If you pull the inlet air snorkel (rubber bit) off the airbox as it doesn't seem to do much except take up space.... that creates perfect space for tubeless repair kits (& a Fuzeblock if you need one for ancilliary electric circuits)

great looks like just the ticket...
calling roper/beetle - will pulling the snorkel affect the mapping?

No noticeable difference to mixture (I run Beetle map).....just make sure whatever you put there doesn't shake/move and cover the air inlet else running will go to rat-shit in a hand basket to mix metaphors.

I had issues with the on/off feel of the throttle when I was trying to smooth the throttle through a corner; that largely went away after Beetle's map. Then just minor adjustment of the throttle cable. Mind you that's not so much a problem if you keep the rpm's above 5K.
Another vote for the silver 2013's, but the spoked wheels got changed out

I have one of those. The rubber snorkel seems to be there to reduce noise. I put a grill in mine to keep the squirrels out of the airbox.
