I’ve had 2 batteries blow up and frighten the crap out of me
1st one when I was a young guy using an angle grinder in workshop and sparks were flying in the direction of some old scrap car batteries in the corner “BANG” top blew off battery.
2nd one, when tightening the terminals on a dump truck battery located under the chassis “BANG” Out on to my eyes and face, immediately washed my face and eyes with towels of cold water and was scared that I would be blind. Rushed to hospital A&E for proper eye flush and everything was fine. Now I always wear glasses when dicking around with batteries.
(I suspect that there was a crack in the plastic around the terminal and gas escaped when I disturbed it with spanner)
