| I just bought an 1100 with 17,000kms on the klock and put an oil guage on it oil pressur hot is at tickkover 1bar(14psi) at 3000rpm 3-4 bar not seen more than 4 bar (hot or cold). my 850(84,000kms) with new oil(10w60 synth.) at tickover 2-3bar and 3000rpm arround 5 bar. I will change the oil on the 1100er but my question is what`s the right setting for the oil pressure release valve? | 4 Bar (60 psi) sounds about right, that's what my other Guzzis run at, a 6 Bar (100 psi gauge) is about right. 1 Bar (15 psi) at idle when hot but should go back to 4 with some revs on. You shouldn't touch the oil pressure relief, it will be fine.

| Thanks Roy, done 160kms/100mile on is today goes like hell 200+kmh. sounds like a tracktor, much louder than the 850 oil pressure around 4 bar : I did´nt think there would be such a difference in the two GRiSO motors sounds like a tracktor, much louder than the cultured 850 maybe i should try the 1200 [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| If you think it's too low the most likely culprit will be the gasket between the sump spacer and the block but this is not something I've seen on an 1100. If it were to occur I'd expect it to be more likely to be a problem with the later models with the trochoidal pump. | |

| Mike,
That looks like a nice oil pressure gauge and a clean installation. May I ask what model of gauge it is, and where you got it?
Thanks,
Moto

| I bought it at a local hydraulik shop pressureguage GMM50H , you might get one at your local Harley dealer but ask for guage with 0 - 80 psi. with stainless steel housing,I taped into the oil supply to the cylinder head . beets the sevice warning you get now and then, in the rain. sorry its late holliday in the UK. | |

| Mike,
Thanks! That steel housing seems to be hard to find on gauges. I may check at the Harley dealer as you suggested.
