| Hi All,
I was wondering outside of the usual checking of fluid levels, tires and fastener tightness, what to inspect or do before the long ride home? The bike is a 2007 with only 3300 miles. New tires are being installed before I get there. Anything unique to Grisos to be aware of? I will be heading from Joplin Missouri on June 14th and taking 2 or 3 days to get to Lexington Ky. and then on to Winston/Salem before getting back to Florida where I live. I'm trying to keep a loose schedule so if I am passing your way, let me know. Any road suggestions are appreciated.
I'm very happy to have a GRiSO, as I have been contemplating it for quite a while and my reading of all the positive impressions here on the forum has put me over the edge.

| G'day Antmanbee Welcome to this forum from us all down under. After you get home check the greasing of the swing arm bearings - search on this site for tutorials. History has shown that Luigi at the factory was grease averse - caught mine in time, many have not. Enjoy the GRiSO - stay safe | |

| Thanks wardentm, I have read about the stinginess with the grease and plan to do that. I am just hoping there is enough grease to get me home without the bearings spitting their guts. I figure I got an hour or two to prep the bike before I take off. | |

| Hi Ant With only 3.3k I would have no hesitation in taking it home without this job - mine had around 55 k when I got to it in time .... just .. From my reading on here most real problems only occur after 20 to 30 k Have a safe ride home - enjoy | |

| I asked him to send me pictures of the sacred screw and it still has a gob of yellow paint in it. | |

| AntManBee (interesting name)
I agree with the others, I would not hesitate to ride it home, even with a few detours. I had a 2007 1100 for 50k miles and loved it almost as much as my 1200 SE.
Welcome to the Ghetto!

| Thanks Street, I intend to take all back roads as much as possible with a series of cheap motels. No way to carry much as it is naked with not so much as a rack. I am strapping on just one duffel bag. | |

| Alan, at that mileage, unless it's been parked up to it's footrests in a swamp for twelve years, the bearings will be fine to get you home but along with the shock linkage they should be on the 'To do' list ASAP.

| Richard, burntclutch, bahamazoo,
Thanks for the kind words. I was thinking the 2V was the way to go, even though a rollorized 4V is the apex of Guzzi engineering. 1100's seem pretty trouble free and even with the 25 or so less ponies they are still more power than I can handle. burntclutch, I would love to meet you sometime but I usually try to avoid Atlanta. Sometimes it is unavoidable but I think I will be east of there this trip.

| Get some 20 amp fuses for just in case. It's a boy scout thing
Your new G11 looks much nicer than my old red. Of course mine is ticking over 60,000 miles and has Hepco pannier racks that I hang big aluminum Tusk boxes on for touring. I think I might put some 90-10 offroad tires for the next set. The out of the way campsites I seem to find always have a fair amount of off paved road riding.
Oh and the best mods I've made have been a Beetle Map, Mistral Muffler and LED headlamp and taillamp bulbs.
