| Good morning folks.
I have been informed that my tail light is flickering as I ride. When I check it while the bike is stopped it is lit and constantly on. I asked a mate to follow me and let me know if the brake light was flickering as well as the driving/tail light. Apparently it is only the running light that is flickering as I drive along. Just wondering has any one else had this? The light appears a solid LED unit and my first thoughts of changing the bulb have gone out the window. So I expect any failure means a new entire unit.

| Probably, and more likely, it's a wiring issue. Diagnostic time, I'm afraid! | |

| Aren't indicators meant to be intermittent? | |

| Thank you for feedback, guess I will trace the wiring and check connections this week end. | |

| A new spring on the foot brake switch solved it for me. | |

| I had that the entire unit was intermittent instead of replacing I removed and cut a small window in the plastic over the connectors resoldered the dodgy connections and re sealed up with sillicone. That was 3 years ago as a temporary measure and its totally fine and has ahad a fair few soakings.
But I will need a new unit eventually, but as I remember they were quite pricey

| Had this happen on a Breva 1100 many years ago. I rigged up a LED on a length of cable and moounted the LED on the handelbars where it could be easily observed. It was connected at various points along the tail light feed wire until the intermittent connection was found.
I can't remember where it was occurring, but it was permanently repaired.

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Note how the tail light is fed from a separate contact of the ignition switch, the bottom Yellow/Grey wire. It also feeds the park bulb in the headlight, you could try removing the headlight for a while for you to observe the park light. There's not a lot of connections in the tail light, look for a wire rubbed through under the fender or a bad common ground with the indicator lamps. You should be able to get it to flicker as you wiggle the wires with the light in the Park position. Have you changed out the indicators for LED type? | |
