Batten down the hatches! I've got a 2012 Norge coming in this afternoon. Ownner check the valves and they were tight so he loosened them off then rode 300km before it went 'BANG! Clank-clank-clank!' and failed to proceed!
I have a feeling this one is not going to be pretty!!!

Maybe the last rites might be more appropriate!

Not sure. I'm guessing it's a flattie that has been ridden to death.

It’s lost it’s valve timing and bent some valves. Gotta pull the air Oz to get the head off. I think it’s the RH side because he said smoke came out of that side....

Thanks for the Chopin funeral march reminder. I did forget how nice it wasÂ
Sudden compression loss, not to mention the jaws of (non) life.
We do implanting at work, but not like that!

Look on the bright side - 3 of the valves look fine, and there's only a little dent in the piston. Reminds me of the burnt Carberry - 3/4 of the rear tyre was perfect.

It looks like it took a few hits before it broke off.

it will polish out
i assume the flatties ran too tight, but i wouldn't have thought they would push the valve that close to the piston without your knowing about it beforehand

No, it was a factory roller bike. It lost its cam timing on that cylinder.

Poor bugger. I assume it is recoverable at great expense? I feel for him having just had a similar experience but with a happy Motomoda outcome. By the way Pete, the GRiSO now has 1100kms since the shells went in. Lots of commuting and stop start work with the odd flog up the valley, some of it in +28 degrees C.
