| I'm on the hunt for a new pair of riding pants, and want something I can wear and not feel like I am in a space suit. Am considering Aerostitch AD1's but choking on price. Any suggestions for all day wear that gives good protection comfort and wet weather capability? I have an old First Gear Kilimanjaro pants that have bibs and suspenders and though they work, arent what I want.

| Steve,
I have these: Clicky
I've been pretty happy with them. Obviously they won't be the same quality as the Aerostitch pants, but they are much more affordable and I've found them to be pretty good at keeping me warm and dry.

| I just bought a pair of Sartso 360 kevlar pants (about $250 in Australia). They look more like regular pants and a loose fit around the crotch. I liked that part. Important to be loose around the crotch. Comfortable though. I think they came in black, greenish brown and crimson. I'm not sure if there is a big market for crimson pants for bike riders. | |

Me too. I like chaps. But I stopped wearing them due to the gay innuendo. How do you get around this?

| There's a joke here about an Italian gay innuendo being a pain the arse, but I'm not having it. It's offensive.

Besides, IMHO crotch rocket guys riding around town with a full race suit is kinda silly looking too. But it doesn't really matter, whatever floats your boat!

| I decided to cheap out, bought a couple no name pants on Amazon for under $90, kept the two pair that fit/felt best, and used (abused) Amazons no cost return system ;-) | |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I got this pants back at Christmas and am very happy with it. The protection of leather without looking like a power ranger. Nice soft feel to the nubuk leather and water repellent, so good for the odd shower. looks casual enough when off the bike. They are made by German company Buse and are called the Bozano leather pants. | |

I'm late to respond since I've been out on a motorcycle trip. I've worn Aerostich suits for many years but I don't recommend them any more. I had a one piece suit that I wore for many years until it "shrunk" in the waist so I had to replace it with a larger suit. I probably put 100,000 miles on that one piece suit without an issue. The new Aerostich suits have "improved" waterproof zippers; all have failed in two years of ownership. As a result, I have a very expensive riding suit with no pockets that I trust to put a wallet, motorcycle keys or cell phone in. I think the armor is good and the rain protection is also good. The venting is not good; my wife's Klim gear has much better venting. My next riding gear purchase won't be Aerostich; it will either be Klim or something like it.

| I'm not afraid of looking like a "Power Ranger" I wear Vanson Leathers; ProPerf in Summer and Comp Weight Travelers the rest of the time. I have been off a few times and have been very happy with the performance of this gear. | |

| I've used the same pair of "Draggin Jeans" for many years. My pair look pretty much like plain ol' denim jeans. Kevlar-reinforced, armor in the knees. Looking at their website, it seems they've expanded their offerings a good deal since I was in the market. Can't vouch for the quality of their current gear, but they continue to be produced in the USA same as always, so that might be a good sign.
