| Hello, I just bought a 2014 GRiSO SE a couple weeks ago. I have been enjoying reading the posts on the Ghetto. I just found a set of Stelvio spoked wheels on Craigslist that were priced too well to pass up. The 19" front wheel isn't as wide as the stock GRiSO wheel. I'm wondering what to get for spacers? I would like to buy discs as well to make wheel changes "quick". I'm looking for a Stelvio shock (I see a used Wilburs on e-bay). Thank you for your suggestions. Peter | |

| Here is an ebay link for a Stelvio shock that was built by Traxxion dynamics outside Atlanta. I have been lookin at it but I can't swing the money anytime soon so.... I talked to Traxxion, told them what I was looking at and how much to rebuild it. Great people to talk with. The prices ranged from $70 to $200+ depending on what I wanted them to do. | The 19 inch wheel won't clear the mudguard and will completely bugger the steering geometry. It's an insane idea. | |

| Jerry, Thanks for the shock link. I saw that and liked the price; the high miles made me skeptical. As for getting a Stelvio; I'd love one. I may just hold on to the extra wheels until I find a nice used one.
I can't see the frame on the Stelvio. The GRiSO is one of the best looking motorcycles I've ever seen.
Pete, it was your posts about the GRiSO that gave me the confidence to sell my Caponord and jump on a local "price is right" deal on a 2014. I was thinking that the geometry of the bike would be pretty close to the original if I raised the back with a Stelvio shock and the front with a 19" wheel. The fender could be moved up with four brackets. I'm not sure about the header to wheel clearance. From this forum it sounds like people are happy with the longer Stelvio shock. I'm in the wheels for $200; one twenty fourth of what I paid for the bike. I'd like to be able to mount the knobbies up for a trip (lack of style exercise) and then put it back together for the majority of the year. thanks for feedback, Peter

| Stelvio uses a leading axle, with the extra height of the 19 inch wheel and no leading axle the rake will be pushed out and the trail will be about a foot and a half. As Mark says, it'll steer like a roofied up supertanker! | |

| So it looks like I've got a couple man cave ornaments until the v85 comes out. Otherwise I'll keep my eye out for a Buell frame and teach myself to weld. The Yamaha Niken sure would look nice with a GRiSO rear end.
Next up, high pipe and beetle. Titanium?
Thanks for the education.

| Think it's the Johnny Cash approach :
I got it one piece at a time And it wouldn't cost me a dime You'll know it's me when I come through your town I'm gonna ride around in style…

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Thanks Mark. I had a 425 mile day getting up to the San Juans with your new map (including a run over the North Cascades and back). The smooth power is very enjoyable. Once on the islands (for a week) I had the opportunity to make short journeys (one down, two up) at slower speeds. Your map does slow very well. Peter | |

I dont dislike the wheels, but if you can afford it a stelvio and a GRiSO would work! | |
