My GRiSO arrived today 07 1100. Wouldn't start so went through the process and thought I'd undo the earth bolt behind the starter motor cover to clean etc... and it snapped! anyway is this common and whats the best process to remove the bolt left in the thread?

Use the bolt on the (clutch) bell housing as the main earth - some judicious enlarging of the lug holes is required this is a much better earth; then the stud is just a mount for the starter cover - and until you get a replacement, "lighten" the whole thing by going "coverless".

anyone know what the pitch is for this thread? 6mm I think bit not sure if 1mm or 1.5mm thread etc?

It's most likely a 1mm pitch for a 6mm diameter bolt (coarse thread). Fine thread pitch is 0.75mm.
