Arizona Trip

Well, I made it to Phoenix. Some 2200 miles since leaving home, Indianapolis. Two more weeks off work and no real plans after going to the Phoenix Mile today.

The GRiSO did a fine job. I'm loaded down pretty good, tent sleeping bag etc. The only issue being the rider. My knees start getting sore after a while. My doctor says I have a little arthritis there but it's to be expected after crawling around in airplanes so many years. The small tank helps providing opportunity to stretch my legs.

My wife flew in and we're staying with friends. It's a nice Mother's Day, birthday, get away for her too. My friend Jeff and I took a run up to Payson yesterday. He rides a Harley bagger but moves it along pretty well. I kind of left him when the road got interesting, visiting the far north side of the posted legal limit.

I only have a few pictures, my phone crapped in Oklahoma.

Who says you can't tour on a GRiSO ?

Well done Ratso! That’s a pretty good haul. If you make it to So Cal, I’d be happy to do a tour of the local mountains.

Got a tow truck to pick up the bike. It's at the shop getting a couple new shoes.

I'll be out there myself (on my Norge) this weekend. I changed my tires before I leave! Should be in Page AZ Sat. Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Capital Reef, and Canyonlands are on the list. Long ride from IL - am so looking forward to it! Meet us for a camp at Muley Point Friday night!

Well, challenges aside, I made it to Southern California yesterday evening.

The Phoenix Mile was a good time as always. Local Indianapolis kid, Kevin Stollings, won the 450 class. I've been watching him win since he was about four feet tall.

Installed a set of Michelin Road 5 tires after the rear getting punctured. A very nice upgrade from the stock Metzelers.

LBC, I'll be heading home tomorrow so no time to meet up for a ride.

CBXTC, I was planning a run through Durango so I may be able to meet you somewhere along the way. Have to figure that out.

Three weeks on the road seems like a long time but my window is closing. Hope not to have any extra challenges on the return run.

What are you getting MPG on the highway?

MPG's are low 33-39 depending on the right hand.
