| A friend gave me a Givi top box minus the brackets I would like to mount on the GRiSO for extended trips. At first I thought I could utilize the same under seat bolts as used by the side bags however I discovered the two side screws at the rear of the grill. I thought it would be best with the box mounted over the pillion seat rather than hanging out the back. If someone has a box mounted on their GRiSO could you kindly take a picture of the mounting bracket with the box on and off. Thanks Roy | |

| Roy, I don’t know if this would help but the Cali wreck I have has the mounting plate for the Guzzi box which I believe is the Givi system. Send me a phone # or email and I can text you a pic to see if it’s suitable. If it is you’re more than welcome to it as unfortunately the very pretty Guzzi box that sat upon it is ‘Donald Ducked’!

| Be aware there are two types of Givi top boxes, Monolock & Monkey. You need to get the right one.
The Guzzi one is different again, I believe, so the one off the Cali will be as useful as tits on a bull.

| Thanks for the offer Pete, I think I sent you a message
I'm such a cheap bastard I was going to make a bracket for the one I have, it's a few years old fits under a couple of clips at the front and onto a post at the rear.
Planing on a trip to Dawson City and beyond, more about capacity than good looks.

| Sounds like you have a Monolock version. There is a universal mount available, it's not very expensive; I guess it depends how cheap you really are. It would mount to the GRiSO rear luggage rack, but that is real money.
Having lost a Guzzi pannier on a freeway in Los Angeles once, I appreciate the need to have a proper mounting system, and the consequences if you don't. You are yet to find this out.

| As far as I know Givi doesn't make a rack for the GRiSO. I installed a Hepco Becker rear rack and mounted a Givi Plate on there to run my Givi E52. I have 4 Givi trunks in the garage and didn't want to have to spend the $$ for the H&B version. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I got a close out plate from Twisted Throttle for $18 and the Givi mounting adapters from Revzilla for 12.00 but I had a $20 credit with Revzilla so those adapters are usually $36 for the set. I also did a 1,335 mile trip this past weekend with the trunk installed and no problems at all with it. | |

| I have the same H&B rear rack, and a cheapie 44L top case off Amazon. have used it for commuting, and for road trips. and i can attest this is a solid set up. I dont even notice its back there when fully loaded. no pics with the top case, but looks almost the same as above set up. - cognosticator wrote:

| Wait to you see the price. I'll bet you'll wish you never scored a free Givi topbox. | |

| I bought a Givi mono lock universal plate and a scooter top case to mount on the GRiSO rear rack. Ran a ham radio (APRS) in it for a couple years. A wee bit ago I bought a huge Givi Monokey top case for the CB1100 (56 liters). That proved so useful I moved the mono lock to the XR650L and bought a spare mounting plate for the GRiSO. Used it this weekend for the Not-a-Rally in Cottonwood along with the GRiSO saddlebags. Saddlebags look better than the yellow Ortlieb's I have, but just don't hold much. | |

| Getting ready for our trip to Alaska and the Yukon in June. I ordered the GRiSO rear carrier, it was much cheaper than the Hepco Becker, 10 days from the factory. When it arrives I will make a plate to bolt the top box on. I don't believe the GRiSO rack is as robust as the Hepco Becker but I will add a brace from the side bag rack if need be.
Replaced the plastic oil cooler cover with one of aluminium, and i started to think how I can protect the rear suspension from flying rocks and how to carry an extra 2 gallons of gas.

| I'll add two more cents. I've had four flats in my motorcycle riding career. About 30 years ago on a borrowed GS750 on I-35 coming into Duluth. 7 years ago on the Quota on the Apache Trail. Dirt riding. Five years ago on the GRiSO, gravel road, Not-a-Rally. This weekend, GRiSO, gravel road. heavy sigh..... | |

| Rboe, That's the look I was going for, do me a favour please and photograph the bracket once you get unpacked and catch a break.
Cheers Roy | |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Maybe I went too small of picture files. Basically it's the Givi universal mounting plate on the GRiSO specific rear rack. The top case easily takes two full faced helmets. I keep light bulky stuff and camera gear up there. Let me know if there is an angle you would like better for a photo. | |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I ordered the KlickIt (KlickFit) mounting hardware off of Amazon and attached it to my old style Ortlieb bags. The Ortliebs are big enough for my sleeping bag and they are waterproof. For rally's like Datil in New Mexico where rain is pretty much a 100% event I use those. Or if I'm camping. | |
