Service Code Secret

Gentlemen of the ghetto,

Luigi has just visited my dash....
She is approaching her 50,000 service and so the SERVICE! triangle has popped up.
No worries, just enter the secret code (which, as she is 1200 Sport is not the one above) toggle thru the menu until 'reset service' appears, push 'yes', and viola, nothing happens.

This is not my first time resetting the service warning, but this time, despite multiple attempts - cold engine, hot engine, service light on, service light off (it disappears after a few starts, as you know), dash faults cleared, ECU faults cleared... the only thing that I think I haven't tried is to actually service the beast.

What am I missing

Service triangle means bad things. You get a little spanner for routine maintenance. Unless the Sport is freakishly different to the GRiSO?

Or a have I entered an alternate Universe?

Check your error codes again.

have none showing up on the ECU list, that or they are all showing ( circle means empty, right )
on the DSB side I have a X in the M column for 01, 04, 06, and then 07 has a X in both A and M
what is A and M again??
01 is key code - hasn't changed in 10 years..
04 Immobiliser - failure of internal controller...??
06 air temp sensor
07 is the oil sensor is it not...??  that will be the scary one...

oil is where it should be on the stick, and smells fresh, being 3000k old...
will go and wiggle some wires...
this wouldn't be connected to uploading a new map a week ago...

A is "active", M is "memory", or old errors.

So you have an active oil pressure sensor error. Software errors from a map upload present immediately.

oil is good, so wire wiggling in progress... sensor error is common, no?
and riding 'shouldn't' be detrimental should it....

It may simply be the pressure sender but it could also be the spacer gasket between the spacer and the block having blown out. Oil quantity is unimportant as long as there is enough to cover the pick up..

Step one. Replace the sender. Step two check the gasket.

There is a Tridon switch that will do the job. PS 039 from memory. Let me check the number this evening. Available from Wottalottacrap Auto.

other news in, I cleaned and crimped the spade connection, then smothered it in dialectic grease, reassembled, and now I don't have the service light....
tomorrow however....

Oh, if you’ve got a sender with the spade connector then the TPS39 or whatever is wrong. We have heaps of spade type senders in stock. Text me and i’ll Send you Michael’s contact details and he can fling one in a baggy for you. It worth having a spare on the shelf anyway and they don’t cost a lot, $22 or something.

On my 1200 sport the oil pressure switch is the same as a BMW series 1 car (2007 I think) - it had the 2 pin clip on connector, and yes my gasket had blown on the sump area a while ago ...

todays report....
all systems go this morning, no dash error codes evident. 150km complete and still happy.
new sender, sump and spacer gaskets in the very near future.
