| Penrite are now recommending MC-4ST 10W-60 for our bikes. Pete any thoughts? | |

| As opposed to ten tenths premium 10? Really it probably won't matter as long as it's a full ester synth. I'll check the spec.

| Not for us. It's for shared oil, wet clutch engines.
Stick with 10-tenths.

| My engine oil gets to my clutch - well a teesy weensy bit - probably a rear seal. Come to think of it, I haven't seen this for a long time, so it must have been the split oil condensor I suffered in May last year, as the culprit. | |

| I think they are BOTH suitable for shared multi-plate clutch use. It doesn't matter if you use them in normal engine use; in fact oils for wet clutches generally don't mechanically shear down (viscosity breakdown due to polymer getting chopped !) as much anyway | |

| ^^^^^^ Ditto. Thought I'd posted this before here, but can't find it. Apologies if double tap. I inquired about Penrite 10 Tenths Premium 10-10/60 with Penrite in Oz and U.S. distributor. Got this: "Unfortunately we don't stock the Penrite 10 Tenths. We only supply some of there [sic] products. Whatever we have listed is what we stock. --- Thank you, Restoration Supply Company order desk 800-306-7008 office 760-741-4014 fax 760-739-8843 [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Not there. | The cynic in me says the MC-4ST is just 10-Tenths repackaged and price hiked.

| You aren't even being cynical - if you compare the viscometrics & elemental analysis you can see they are down to identical Base number, Zn, KV & CCS visosity so can not be a coincidence ! . That means they used exactly the same additive package at the same treat rate and exactly the same baseoil (same blends using same engine & test results) ; just a different volume & packaging. Not sure why they left the density & Calcium level off the MC oil but with same base number it has to be using same type/treat of 300 TBN overbased Calcium Carbonate detergent....Castrol & others are equally sneaky with packing MC oil at smaller volumes and higher prices (because we're special idiots they can rip off) | |
