| Hi everyone Just joined. Proud owner these past 18 months. Noticed when I arrived at work this morning that a part has fallen out of side of shaft casing, leaving hole exposing inside of engine. Not sure how long it has been like this, but I am unable to order part because I don't know what it is! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I think it is just rubber stopper. Can't think how it may have come out (hopefully out, rather than in). Pictures are from computer during happier times when bike was complete. If anyone knows part code, I would be very grateful. Thanks Phil | |

| Rubber plug left over from earlier models with timing marks when we had points ignition systems. Sometimes still used for finding TDC to set tappet clearances. GU93180220 |

| AFAIK there's no problem if it fell in - just don't throw too many rubber washers in there | |

| Just don't poke your finger in the hole while the engine is running, OK. I'm sure you won't but given the level of stupidity I've observed on another board of late nothing would surprise me!

| I am sure it will keep running with the end of a finger in the bottom of the bell housing, no worries!

| Think the part # is GU93180220 It'll pop on some UK sites when googled. I have a bunch; don't know why. Will send if you can't source easily there. I have used the cork cap from a bottle of bourbon , too. Think Knob Creek is best fit. Bill P.S. They get stiff after a time, but boiling in water brings 'em back. | |
