| Customer over in Murrumbateman low-sided his G850. Lock stop busted and it's put a small crease in the frame with the top yoke. This is typical low side damage and while it puts a small crease in the frame tube the fact is that the tube is of I. K. Brunell proportions and unless there are other significant whacks or twists applied it is not going to effect the frame's strength or integrity. Now usually any frame damage is an immediate Stat Writeoff meaning the machine can never be re-registered. The owner loves his little GRiSO though and after talking with him this morning I said I'd try and see if I could save it. Well I talked to the assessor at lunchtime and he sounded amenable to a repair job as long as I was willing to put my name to the integrity of the frame. I'm more than happy to do that, it was a very low speed spill and it's obvious that the damage is superficial. String lining it shows there is no frame damage beyond the tiny ding. I'l stand behind that! So, it looks like I've actually managed to finally save one from the undertaker! How good is that? They only bought about twelve of them into Oz and I know two have been written off already! It's nice to see such a rare and enjoyable bike saved! Pete | |

| Great news. I loved my 850 and very much regretted selling her. Great little mountain carver, easier to turn in than my 1100. Any way well done Pete. | |

Pete "String Liner" sounds a good title for the retention of analogue craft over tech-dude drivel.

Pete "String Liner" sounds a good title for the retention of analogue craft over tech-dude drivel. The human eye, even my old, myopic and fucked ones, combined with the wonders of the human brain are very, very capable. Not everything needs a high tech machine to do the thinking for you. A motorbike is essentially two wheels and a horn. The speeds and forces involved in making it behave are governed by the laws of physics. In the same way that Ghezzi uses them to make his bike handle and perform in regards to suspension we can understand how and what will compromise the geometry of a frame. At the level we work at an eye is good enough to tell you if it's fucked or not! Getting it back so it's un-fucked if it is indeed fucked is a different matter but assessing if it's actually a broken munter is really pretty easy. Pete
