| Just joined this forum, and wondering what I need to be looking for on a GRiSO I'm about to buy:
2010 GRiSO 1200 8V with 6700 miles
Roller Tappets done under warranty, with receipts
Mistral slip-on is the only "upgrade."
I've only owned vintage bikes for the last 25yrs, which I still have, a 1968 Bonneville, and for the last 8yrs a 1974 850T. I have done just about everything on the T, sans pulling the motor apart, I like the way these bikes are put together and run - why I'm here. Seeing the bike Fri/Sat and wondering what specific questions to ask (other than the RT's and why he's selling - done), where to look on the bike for issues, what to listen for, what to bring etc.
The bike is part of a collection, of an older gentleman who rarely rode it, hence the low miles.
Thanks so much - J

| At that mileage if the rollers are done and it looks good (hasn't been on its side down the road) buy it and then you can tackle things like greasing the swing arm bearings and setting the valve clearances and balancing the throttle bodies, oil changes etc yourself. When you are familiar with the bike you can get the cables and download Guzzidiag so that you can reset the TPS which needs to be done after balancing the throttle bodies. You can also see what map is loaded and decide if you want to upgrade to Beetle map if it doesn't already have one. Best of luck with it and welcome... | |

| Are you certain it's been rollerised? The paperwork specifically states it has been converted to roller tappets? It doesn't simply say 'Tappet upgrade completed' or some such?
There was an earlier upgrade that simply involved a swap from chilled cast iron tappets to forged steel ones with the DLC coating on them and a bike that age would of been eligible for it. At 6,700 miles it would of most likely required removal and close inspection of the tappets to detect the start of the failure of the DLC and if the swap was conducted at any point after sale chances are the deterioration would be very hard to see at such a low mileage.
I would visually confirm it has rollers by insisting on having a look before I put my money down. If you've already paid first thing to do is inspect when you get home.

| Welcome ... and what Pete said!
I've ridden my '10 through Middleton more than once 2011-13.
As you know, great (GRiSO) country in the Driftless.

| If that's the red one it looks like a really nice bike. He keeps lowering the price. Hope you get a good deal! | |

| Hey guys, thanks so much. This is a great part of the country for riding Bill, love the Crud Run and WMGR event at Lake Joy, Middleton is a really nice little town in Madison. Thanks Cat, looking forward to it. @Pete, the owner took it to a Guzzi Dealer in Milwaukee to have the roller tappet conversion done, this was not an inspection, but a scheduled appointment to replace the flat tappets with roller tappets, again, under warranty. I'll see the receipts and paperwork tomorrow, and am expecting to see something confirming it has the Piaggio kit/conv (?), and involves shims, valve seal rings, and gaskets. Going through the threads it looks like it's a B or C kit. I'll get a pic of the paperwork and post maybe, when I put a deposit on it Friday / Saturday. Here's the bike: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] | |

| looks lovely, i have a 2009 and it went straight from original tappets to rollered ones, missing out all the other upgrades, but it had only done 2200 miles when i purchased in 2014, so they are out there. | |

| Bike is immaculate, roller tappet paperwork is legit, deposit paid, expect to have it home by next weekend. Thanks for all your input, looking forward to being a part of the group!

| Good deal. I'm going to start looking into the diagnostic and tps tool options so that would be great to talk to someone directly about it. I'm dealing with a 35yr gap in 'technology' coming off a 74 850T to this | |
