| Hi, I'm Mark from East Bentleigh, Vic , Australia . I'm 59 and bought a V7 3 1/2 years ago after having pretty much taken 30 years off motorbiking due to the usual children/family pressures ( was actually scoping out scooters but saw the V7 and.....) . I love the v7 but figure that I deserve a faster bike for a few years before it all hurts too much! I bought this 2016 GRiSO second hand privately from a guy who'd done a good few mods but only 5300 km's all in the dry. I'm still learning what has been modded but it has the arrow exhaust and some remapping and Memjet?? mapping system plus a Rizoma ( ?) tail tidy and led flashers etc. It flies like the wind with no dead spots or lag after it's had 45 seconds or so to warm up from cold. Don't tell " mum" but so far PB has been 166km/hr and still pulling hard down a back road when fear of law enforcement and hazards kicked in. I'll try harder when it's had new juices in the relevant places. It allegedly had first service at 755km but haven't found the paperwork so am in process of changing oils to be safe. So far I cannot get a grip on the oil filter to get it off! Any ideas what the best type of filter wrench would be to remove it or should I bite the bullet and just poke a screwdriver through it for leverage?? I'm figuring that these bikes are quite rare and may not continue with EU 5 compliance coming up. It'll either be a collectors piece in a few years or redundant....who knows....? Most beautiful bike that I've personally had anything to do with though and it's mine!! First few rides have been fabulous fun!!! Only minor complaint is that bars and mirrors make lane filter ng on commute more of a challenge . Will look forward to getting to know you guys and maybe meeting for a ride. | Welcome to the Ghetto. Unfortunately, GRiSO was discontinued in 2016 due to Euro 4, let alone 5. You need one of these puppies to get the filter off: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I highly recommend you get rid of the memjet black box. Roper will be along shortly to regale you with tales of horror and woe. I had a nasty experience with a similar black box myself. Your bike of course, so do what you may. Plenty of good advice and technical info within the Ghetto. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ..[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.].In GRiSO we trust! . | |

| Thanks for the heads up mate. Where would I pick up the oil filter remover? Let me guess.....specialised Guzzi part? I don't suppose theres anyone in Melbourne town that can offer a lend? I've just drained out the engine oil grrrr!
Bugger, I'll await the tales of woe about the memjet......... all seems fine in the moment though...

| For the filter cap wrench? Available at any 'Wottalottacrap Auto' type place. The stock UFI filter is a 76mm-8 flute type. If you can't find one for whatever reason gimme a hoy and I'll send you one for cost and postage, about $25-30 I'd guess.
Memjet, booster plug, FatDuc and even the more sophisticated tuning 'Boxes' are either useless, un-neccessary or require setting up by someone who knows what they are doing but also require hacking into the loom, (Yes, Power Commander. I'm looking at you!). The W5AM controller is now essentially an open book and a much better than original open loop map can be supplied by Beetle for most pipes readily available or if you have the skills and confidence you can 'Roll your own' with Tunerpro.
Don't try and lower the idle speed by fiddling with the throttle stop screws. Learn how to balance the throttle bodies properly, grease the swingarm bearings and shock linkage and ride.

| Mirrors for filtering - if you like bar ends, get ones that fold up, otherwise check out those that mount in the brake & clutch posts -Napoleon Baren are the cheaper one (about $80) & the Rizomas with adapter the expensive end (some $200 - but worth it)

| Welcome Mark . We tried to organise a GRiSO trip to Tasmania earlier this year, but everyone had issues with family or health etc, so it has been put on the back burner at the moment, but your in the box seat. Did you keep the V7 ? Cheers Ron | |

| hello mark from the UK, easy bike to look after, once you learn what not to do, most importantly get on it and rise, it will induce a grin every time | |

| Thanks so much for the warm welcomes and advice. I would reply individually but still learning the site. I have a pic of the GRiSO from the other side with delightfully coloured Arrow exhaust when I can figure out why I can't get it to post. ( size restriction?). I still have the V7 and may well keep it. My thinking is that my 35 yo son gets his full bike licence mid next year and I have made agreeable mods that make it a hoot to ride within it's performance envelope.
The GRiSO is a little more of a challenge for me to ride due to the leg /footpeg positioning and I have sciatica on and off so my hope currently is to get a handful of years out of the GRiSO and then " age gracefully" with the v7. Who knows though? ( I might explore whether there are agreeable options for lowering the footpads a tad to see if that helps. Whereabouts do Pete and Beetle live and do they get " hands on with others bikes?
It's not a high priority getting rid of the memjet but overall I am of the keep it simple stupid line of thought with tech.
A quick question: what size c spanner do I need to adjust the standard rear suspension spring. The back end is feeling a little stiffer than I believe I need and I'd like the option to mess with it a little especially as my back seems to be enjoying paying out on me....grrr
