| Looks like the prices of rollerised 1200's are starting to drop a bit.
Are we talking a huge difference in the real world between the 1100 and 1200? I'm thinking about a $3k difference here.
I'd swap my goodies (Mupo, Rizoma lights and bars, CRG mirrors) to the 1200 and sell the 1100 as stock.
There's one in the classifieds that is about 2 hours away.
Anyone make the jump from 1100 to 1200? I know Pete has.

| Some folks would say yes, some would say no. I think your best bet is to try one and see what you think. They're both great bikes. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]2012 MOTO GUZZI GRiSO 1200SE2013 MOTO GUZZI STELVIO 1200NTX - Orange Blossom Special | |

| Yeah... I love my 1100 and I've been shot down about getting a second bike. So instead was wondering if that extra grunt would get me where I wanted to be with a second bike. (Tuono, Duc Super Sport or GT1000, RSV)
No way I could be without a GRiSO at all.

| The 8V is quick, in a drag race with a speed triple (09 shape) from 20 to 120mph there was no difference. Went to mugello last year with a Ducati 1299 Panagale, RSV4, GSXR1000, RSV mille and a CBR600r and apart form the outright speed, during days of riding over the alps, on the Route Napoleon the GRiSO was happy in that company.
The handling on the road and the grunt available everywhere seems to allow it to keep up with most things, unless the road really opens out.

| I never had a single complaint with my 1100, loved it for 50K miles until some A-hole cut in front of me and totaled it, but the 8V replacement is oh so much more. Quicker, smoother, better braking, more power, it's a totally different machine. As Steak said, ride one and see for yourself. Either way, it's a GRiSO, and both models are grin inducing. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]“Danger + Survival = Fun.” - Neil Peart[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |

| Birch, I'm less than 2hrs away, come and try my 8V if you'd like. I also have a 2V Norge you can compare to. Spring is here | |

| I have both...there is a difference for sure but mostly when you go into the Hooligan mode. Riding in the Mountains at speeds lower than 50mph, the 8V more powerful engine isn't that obvious. When you go into canyon carving style roads, you can then see the benefits of the 1200 mill. Me personally, I just love the power delivery of the 8V... | |

| I've owned both. Loved my 1100 dearly but it just couldn't compete with the raw nature of the 8V. In a lot of ways the 1100, being the final development of the old pushrod engine, was in some ways almost too sophisticated and could even begin to feel anodyne if cruising at or around the legal limit.
While the 1200 is now mapped close to perfectly, (Mark modified the map I was sooking on about having the poor start with and must of tweaked a couple of other things as its once again improved overall.) it still retains an *Earthiness* that I found lacking a bit with the highly developed 1100.
Look, its horses for courses. I'd never go back to a 2V motor as an alternative to my 8V but I have to say I would like to have my 1100 back as a companion to my current 1200!

Pete What a great way to describe the G12; I'm going to copy and save that when folks ask ... and claim those are my words. Seriously, Pete, well done. If you will forgive me an automobile analogy, at least for those who know the machines in question, I compare the G11 & G12 to the Mini Cooper base v. S models. We have the latter. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]In '09, it's 110 HP base; 172, S. Both are blasts on rock-&-roll roads as both have handling that makes driving fun ... but the S models have an afterburner I suppose the JCW versions are equivalent to G12's with Mark's map. Bill
